Who should play Tim Walz on SNL?

Name your best choice. I’ve seen Steve Martin suggested. I can’t think of any myself, but I’m sure you all will have some good ideas.

I think Jason Sudeikis could pull it off.

I’m typically adamant that a member of the current cast should do it; but, of the current cast, only James Austin Johnson I think is truly capable, and he’s already busy playing Trump. If they have to bring in a ringer, they should get Darrell Hammond to do it. He technically still works on the show as the announcer.

I hope that they get Bowen Yang to play JD Vance. Slap a fake beard and some mascara on him and let him go to town.

Is Drew Carey available?

His wife Gwen should be played by Kristen Wiig. No other options. Maybe that Phoebe lady from friends, but I hope not.

John Mahoney would have been a great option, I think.

As would Philip Seymour Hoffman.

John Candy or Chris Farley

Hmmm…if we’re considering actors from The Big Lebowski who have passed away, I think David Huddleston is a better match.

Steve Martin has been trending on xitter today for this very reason.

My Unca Pete.

Spitting image.

But, of course he’s dead.

Actor, Jason Alexander.

I don’t know, but I’ll just point out that they can do wonders with makeup, so it wouldn’t necessarily be someone who looks like him “in real life.” And it wouldn’t have to be a male; we’ve seen Aidy Bryant as Ted Cruz and Kate McKinnon as Jeff Sessions and Rudy Giuliani, for instance.

I’m wondering about Kamala Harris. Maya Rudolph is the obvious choice to play her, and has done so before, but (since she hasn’t been a regular cast member for a long time now) will she be available as often as they need a Kamala, and if not, is there someone in the regular cast who can do it?

They should take a surreal left turn and cast Christoph Waltz as a charming evil mastermind orchestrating every right wing conspiracy theory.

SNL did get Rudoph to play Harris:

Jim O’Heir (Jerry from Parks & Rec)

Shane Guillis

Yeah, but these, along with Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer, were all to piss off the target more than physical resemblance.

The first picture I saw of Tim Walz made me go “OMG! It’s Olsen Johnson!” I was going to put that in the other thread, but they had already moderated against The Big Lebowski and I didn’t want to piss off the moderators.

Yes, I know it’s the same actor. I like Mel Brooks better than I like The Coen Brothers.

It’s a new season coming up; maybe they’ll find a new cast member.

Bring back Alec Baldwin to play Trump and let JAJ play Walz. Come to think of it, they could have dueling Trumps. Hilarity ensues!

Bill Hader does terrific impersonations. With the right makeup he could easily pull it off.

Of course Keenan Thompson could do it, too.

Eh, quite frankly I was never a huge fan of Baldwin’s Trump. Baldwin probably would decline the opportunity anyway; by the time 2020 rolled around, I got the sense that he was getting pretty tired of doing it. Baldwin clearly took the gig thinking he wouldn’t be needed after November 2016; he was really mailing it in by the end of the run.
