Word on a couple of blogs is that Algis Budrys died sometime today. I’ve been unable to confirm this, although his Wikipedia entry has already been updated. No word on cause.
Betty Ann Hull has confirmed it. A sad loss.
Budrys led an interesting life and was a top-notch editor and writer. His “seven parts of a story” is something all aspiring authors should be familiar with.
He was a regular guest at WindyCon in Chicago, and if memory serves correctly I once shared a table with him at a staff dinner. He will be missed.
