I knew in my heart this was the last season. Still, having it confirmed really sucks. To make matters worse, the article is so mean about it. Why was it necessary to gloat? The show does have fans. I think its main problem was that it wasn’t very accessible to new viewers. That, and the fact that you actually have to pay attention to it.
In its prime it was damn good, and though it’s certainly not what it once was, it’s still worth watching. (Hell, even if Jennifer Garner left, I’d continue watching just for Balthazar Getty - he can spy on me any time. ) Yes, I know it’s absurd and impossible. Name a TV show that isn’t. It’s a spy fantasy, emphasis on fantasy, and it cleaved to the traditions of the genre with style and quality.
Thanks for ruining my Thanksgiving, ABC and Washington Post.
At least I’ll still have the DVDs.
::hits Submit, awaiting the inevitable smug replies from people who didn’t care for the show and are glad it’s been canceled, because anyone who enjoys shows they don’t is obviously a philistine of lesser intelligence and taste.::
You know, I’ve often wondered if anyone else was still watching this show. I almost gave up on it this season, but I’ve watched every episode since its debut and I just can’t let it go yet. So I have mixed feelings about its cancellation. On the whole, though, I do think it’s a good show – at its best, it is a great show.
I knew this was coming. I don’t watch the show myself, but SolGrundy just started watching it a few months ago, and got really into it. That’s pretty much always the mark of death. So don’t blame ABC, blame him. Not that it will do you much good; there’s not going to be much left of him after the Arrested Development fans get a hold of him.
I was a huge Alias fan, but it was starting to remind me of the X-Files. I never liked the character of Nadia and felt that whole “lost lost sister” thing was as old as the hills and about as interesting. Losing Vaughn and Weiss was tough too. I just can’t get into these new agents. I miss the Syd/Vaughn dynamic, and we haven’t been seeing enough of Jack Bristow either. I’m relieved it’s canceled so that it can go out on a high note.
Breathe easy. From an interview with the creater (who has been involved with TV long enough to know what he’s talking about) Scrubs gets the kind of ratings that, while not steller, will keep it on the air until they decide to pull the plug for creative reasons.
I will miss Jack and Sloan. Jack and Sloan rule. Victor Garber and Ron Rifkin are both terrific actors and no matter how ridiculous the plots got they were always able to sell them.
And I’ll miss Marshall too. And why Carl Lumbley isn’t a superstar I’ll never know.
Sorry to see the show end…yes, the Rimbaldi story was way out there, and it was getting tedious to see Sloan good/bad/good/bad again etc etc.
But it was always fun to see BERLIN and Sydney with orange hair going into a disco, or PRAGUE and Sydney wearing dark rimmed glasses and holding a clipboard. BTW…did Jennifer Garner actually learn to speak all those foreign phrases in dialog (her German wasn’t half bad) or was she dubbed?
At any rate - sorry to see the show end, but looking very much forward to see how they wrap this puppy up.
My favorite part of every episode was when she would run down a corridor at warp 5 in a miniskirt. That, and the time in the pilot episode when she kicked a that guy in the head.
I also had the feeling the show was on its last season…I had a hard time finding it (Wednesday at 8?) and the new characters have no chemistry for me. I thought it might be interesting to see how Sydney would handle motherhood and the spy business, since she wasn’t too keen on her mother’s method. But the loss of Vaughn was too much, even though I keep hoping he’s the body in the coffin that they found…or did I miss that answer when I forgot to tape last week and this week?
As a “Girl From U.N.C.L.E.” fan, I really loved this show.
