Sorry, but I refuse to give in to this notion that ALIAS is/was too complicated for the general American public. Why is the lowest common demoninator constantly pandered to? Also, why do people give up every time a show forces them to think. ALIAS is complicated but, let’s face it, it’s not Nietzche.
I also find it ridiculous that a journalists, many I’m sure college graduates, find ALIAS “ludicrously confusing” (to quote one)…are we surrounded by a bunch of idiots? It’s just that kind of press that seems to have possibly deterred people from tuning in.
It’s not “ludicrously confusing” to those of us that have been watching since day 1 and haven’t missed an episode. But lets face it, if you plunked someone off the street and sat them down for a random episode of Alias they wouldn’t have any idea what’s going on.
It’s why the show needs these “reboot” points like the Super Bowl episode and the season 2 finale. Without them no one would ever be able to jump in.
What pisses me off is since the Super Bowl episode, in every frickin episode Jennifer Garner gets semi-naked with slo-mo and cheesecake poses. It’s gotten completely ridiculous. I know she has a great body but for a season and a half, she wasn’t being sold for her looks. It’s getting distracting. I’m just worried that J.J Abrams has no plan about the prophecy and Sydney’s connection to it.
I personally think most people in Hollywood, actors and journalists are a couple beers short of a six-pack so of course they find Alias and 24 confusing.
