I’m beginning to think I’m just hitting the "getting old and just don’t get it " or there’s something odd about the hook to this song.
Album & Artist, Trey Anastasio, self titled.
Song… Alive Again.
Hook as I hear it… “Summer’s coming and I’d like a review”
If I’m hearing that accurately, can someone tell me what it means? I keep picturing it as an employee reminding their boss that it’s time for their annual review and that just doesn’t fit the remainder of the song.
Haven’t heard the song, but he probably means it’s time to look back on what has happened so far this year. The season is about to change, and it makes him reflect on what has happened up to this point.
In general, it’s best not to try to read too much into pop song lyrics, and that has nothing to do with when you started listening.
To me it sounded like he wasn’t sure if he was ready for summer, or wanted it to come.
As in, 'I don’t know whether I’ll see Scooby Doo, I’d like to read a review of it first*.
I don’t know where he’d find a review of the upcoming summer however, and how he’d avoid it if the review was negative, so it’d possibly be better to go with Kyomara’s explanation.
From what responses so far, can I at least conclude that this is not a case of “excuse me while I kiss this guy” creative hearing and the singer is actually singing the words I quoted above?
I have yet to sit down and really pay attention to the remaining lyrics to see if that clarifies the hook ad I haven’t found the lyrics for this song on any of the popular lyric search engines.
