Yeah, I’ve never quite gotten the hate for this movie. It’s a solid, spot-on send up of the genre.
I think the problem was the way it was marketed. The promos didn’t really do a good job of conveying just what type of movie they were selling and a lot of people went in expecting a pretty standard, “blow-shit-up-real-good” action flick, instead of the parody that it was.
omg those scenes KILL ME. With the mom and her kids and the two elderly people
Actually, the rifftrax version of it is out, and hilarious. It lets me re-watch the movie but distance myself from the strong emotions a bit. Because I really hate crying at movies, but I still like to rewatch the ones that make me cry.
(On another note, this thread appears [at least until I post this response] in the Cafe Society list right next to Worst song ever? “Friday” courtesy of Youtube.)
Yeah, me too. Well, I’ve never seen the Canadian version (which I understand is hosted by Mister Jay), but my wife sucked me into Tyra’s ANTM, and I have watched ever episode of the last three cycles.
What’s a little frightening is that I am way better than Mrs. SMV at picking which girl’s going to get sent home each episode. By about the fifth episode of this last cycle, I had picked Brittani to win. And I was right.
Much of what I enjoy in life, entertainment wise, has been mentioned. I LOVE Everybody Loves Raymond because I’m guaranteed to laugh at least once, and that will often be the only laugh I have that day. I also like old black and white movies (if they are good movies that is). I would happily stay home and watch an old Barbara Stanwyck marathon on TCM while y’all go out and watch whatever the flavor of the month is, out there. Welcome to it. Oh, and Pennies From Heaven, the original series on PBS years ago, AND the remake with Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters. I thought it was brilliant. And I have the soundtrack album (bought it for $2 in a bargain bin) and still give it a spin on a rainy day.
Jethro Tull (except for Passion Play. But I still bought it)
“Lost in Space” Quiet, you bubble headed booby!
Bernie Ecclestone (Formula 1) and Gary Bettman (NHL). two greedy little trolls
Albert Goldman’s biography of John Lennon.
Angie Baby - Helen Reddy
Saturday Night - Bay City Rollers
Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia - Vikki Lawrence
Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks
I wanna stop now.
I’m not embarrassed that I liked Independence Day, but am way ashamed that I liked it so much I saw five (!) times in the theatres (a personal record).
