"All right, I'm going to say it...I actually LIKED..."

I simple adore The A-Team movie. It is superior to the series in its over the top incomprehensiblity and FUN. It’s so quotable.

Kung Fu flicks. Defend the family honor cheese fests. I would rather watch a Jackie Chan film than anything that is Oscar Bait.

what about the one where neelix and tuvok had a transporter accident, and melded into Tuvix. then the resulting tuvix became more competent at both tactical officer and chef, and generally everyone like him more except for Kes and Janeway, and then Janeway giving the order to “kill” tuvix by splitting him back into neelix and tuvok? note, giving the order despite Tuvix pleading for his life repeatedly, condemning it as murder in the 1st degree. the entire episode i was in tears screaming at my screen… “picard would never agree to this!!! he’s a life form@!!! HE HAS A RIGHT TO EXIST!!! … PICARRRRRRRD!!!”

or the episode where they unfroze amelia earheart? AND noonan?

[snark] or the one where they have a way to go home, but don’t? maybe i’ll start a poll asking “how fast would it have taken you to mutiny onboard Voyager?”[/snark]

just so this post isn’t a total derail, on top of “Fired Up” (thanks for the backup Gaffa), I also like(d) Glee and the Golden Girls, which is something you don’t find in my demographic - 24 yr old male (bro).

Legally Blonde.

America’s Next Top Model - which I find genuinely inspirational.

I don’t just like Madonna and Lady Gaga, I love them, with all my heart and soul.

Though my true love is alternative and classic rock, I thoroughly enjoy country music.

Honestly I could list about a thousand things I’m pretty sure Dopers would not be into, that I personally liked.

Yeah, I don’t know anybody who doesn’t like Tremors.

Shit, I hate horror movies, and I like Tremors.

The Insane Clown Posse.

I win! What up, ninja?

I watched Eat Pray Love and didn’t hate it. I couldn’t stand Julia Roberts’s character, and the other characters were one-dimensional, but her journey was pretty thought-provoking, and I liked that a mainstream movie showed cultures outside California in some detail.

Stuff I liked, to a greater or lesser degree:

The Da-Vinci Code - fun page-turner. I even thought the film was watchable if very average, even though Tom Hank’s hairpiece deserved billing as a supporting character.
Daredevil - don’t understand the hatred for this one, thought it was decent enough, and liked the “super-hearing” effects. Would be interested to hear what the big issues were.
Alien Resurrection - not too bad if you can get past “oh god, they brought back Ripley”.
Avatar
I, Robot (film)
Dracula (1992, the Coppola one)
The Village - very average, but I didn’t think it was awful.
Troy
Underworld

Oh well, at least you helped keep them out of the hands of true believers for a bit. If they were pure entertainment I don’t think people would have a problem with them, but like The Da-Vinci Code, it’s the fact that there are a lot of people out there who believe the nonsense that grates.

Count me in as a TommyKnockers fan. Stephen King hopped up on cocaine can still do a lot better than most (and this is better than some of his more recent work.)

Good one. I was up until 3am with this book, read it cover to cover, and thought it was quite powerful.

Eyes Wide Shut–I thought it was brilliant. I think some of the hate comes from a poor marketing strategy.

Starship Troopers–I loved the book. The movie was a brilliant satire both on the book and on WWII films, especially the pro-war movies made during and immediately after the war.

Showgirls–I don’t know that I can say I LIKED it, because I turned it off halfway through and never bothered to finish it, but I laughed my ASS off at that pool scene.

I remember one hot summer when Tremors was on TV every night for a week. Love that movie, it’s one of those movies where when you come across it flipping through channels you stop and watch for a while. The fact that the juicy young Kevin Bacon looking adorable in every scene is icing on the cake. And I always laugh at that kid on a friggin’ pogo stick! Seriously, if ever there was a hilariously stupid thing for a character to do in such a situation, I can’t think of a funnier stupider thing! Unless she was digging a hole…

Hudson Hawk
Xanadu
The Puppet Master movies
Shock Treatment
Daredevil
Tommyknockers(the book and the mini-series)
The songs Midnight At The Oasis and Convoy

There have been a bunch of things in this thread that I’d agree with, but my latest “ashamed to admit”?

“Make It or Break It” on ABC Family. I watch it every week with my 18 year old daughter. Sometimes I yell at the TV wondering how certain characters get away with stuff, but it’s a pretty solid show, really, with a good premise.

Of course, the fact that I also liked the movies Bring It On & Stick It probably shows a predisposition for that sort of thing.

Tremors was a great B movie. The characters used their brains to survive - even the dumb ones. The scientist doesn’t know everything about everything. The flick doesn’t take itself too seriously. The survivalists were great - mourning over the loss of their bunker, other folks in town quietly saying we’ll have to stop poking fun at them now. Heck, it’s better than a lot of ‘A’ movies.

If there is any Tremors hate it’s got to be for the sequels, which I have not seen. Well, I saw a few minutes of 2 & 4 on TV. They didn’t look so good.

Slight hijack - the fourth season was not so good. The network decided to cancel ST-E after season three. There was a hue and cry among fandom, and a large letter writing campaign. So the network un-canceled it for a fourth season, mainly to have enough episodes to have a credible run for syndication. The fourth season shows are a decided downturn from the tough, gritty, intense third season. And I’ve never seen ST-E in syndication, making season 4 a lose-lose proposition. [/hijack]

Three pages of jibberish when all we needed are these four winning posts.

Great movie.

Las Vegas is a great place for a vacation! They ought to bring back Enterprise, and the theme song was just super. I am eager to see the reboot of Buggs Bunny on Cartoon Network when I get home and predict the new Flintstones will be great.

Oh, and Sliders? A work of inspired genius!

I really like the movie Bubble Boy.

Stuart Saves His Family. One of the few genuinely funny SNL movies. It’s a shame how it gets lumped in with “It’s Pat” and shit like that…

I really like Kid Rock. He gets a lot of hate around here, but I crank the hell out of “Cowboy” or “Bawitdaba” when I hear 'em…

Joe

In fact, "Joe Vs the Volcano" has achieved a something of minor cult status by those who quite seriously consider it of the most interesting and compelling movies ever made.
