It did give us a gleefully sadistic mirror universe Mengele-version of Dr. Phlox (the mirror universe episode was season 4, wasn’t it?), though, so it wasn’t all for nought…
Ha! I get sucked in almost every time it’s on!
I saw Dante’s Peak five times in the theater.
Joe
I love the Jonas Brothers and went to one of their concerts.
Vanilla Sky was brilliant.
I like the Pina Colada Song. Feel free to mock me.
Agreed. The Dervla Kirwan/Stephen Tompkinson interaction made it all worthwhile.
I do kinda like Kingdom. ITV series, friendly and rural, like Ballykissangel; it stars Stephen Fry and an otherwise high-bracket cast, but I still don’t know why I like it. Well, enough to have watched a few episodes on ITVPlayer anyway.
I don’t think that counts because it’s too damn good. The initial cheerleading chant is awesome.
And Arnie actually acted a bit.
Too far.
No, this was too far. Your name suits.
+1
That Stuart Smalley book was pretty good too.
most people who’ve actually seen Stuart Save hsi Family like it. However a lot of people won’t see it because they understandaby assume it’s just another crappy SNL movie.
I also liked t pirates of the C movies and didn’t hate the matrix sequels.
spiderman 3.
Okay, that might deserve mockery. Go easier on the peyote.
Otherwise? Yeah, most of those Nick and Disney tween shows are somewhere between pretty watchable and pretty darned good. I especially like iCarly and Ned’s Declassified, but (I’m so ashamed) I watch Victorious mainly because that one brunette guy is so fascinatingly gorgeous. (Honestly, it’s not even a remotely sexual attraction. He’s just so pretty! I felt the same way about Apolo Anton Ono a few years ago during the winter Olympics.)
I also love America’s Next Top Model, and my big macho redneck husband always gets sucked in when I watch an all day marathon. And disco. And Neil Diamond.
Also, Hanson, Rick Springfield, Bay City Rollers, KISS, and AC/DC. And Vanilla Ice’s greatest hit. And I have a mad crush on Captain Sig Hansen from the TV series Deadliest Catch.
No problem!
The bit from the male cheer coach about being born doing “spirit fingers” had me nearly rolling on the floor.
I’ve gotta get behind Hudson Hawk too. I never really understood how it was so completely loathed until now, though. Amazing how crappy marketing can cause a movie to be considered much worse than it otherwise would be.
4 pages and mine hasn’t been mentioned yet.
I like Ocean’s Twelve better than the original and worlds better than thirteen.
Other ones that might not be as egregious as the first are:
Spiderman 2 was the best of the three by far
I really liked the second Matrix (not the third)
The third Pirates movie was my favorite
I know there’s a lot of hate on this board for Lady Gaga, but I don’t care. I still think she’s awesome.
Another thing that seems to get a lot of hate, especially from the more sophisticated anime fans, is shonen anime. I don’t care if you make fun of me for still liking “Naruto” while everyone else has already moved on to “Dance in the Vampire Bund” or whatever, I’m still going to keep watching it till it ends or Kishimoto does something particularly messed up to the plot, whichever comes first. (Looks like the manga is headed that way as of this week’s chapter, but I won’t spoil it for anyone)
I also like 80’s dance music, aka “freestyle.” It brings back memories of high school, walking down the street to go get lunch and hearing, say, the Cover Girls or Stacy Q blasting out someone’s car window. Ah, memories. Here’s a few examples, for those who enjoy this music, are curious, or are into self-inflicted torture:
The Cover Girls - Show Me
Tapps - My Forbidden Lover
The Flirts - Danger
Noel - Silent Morning
Crocs
Cheeze
Domestic beer
But you didn’t mention any of Janeway’s holodeck characters.
Not only would Picard never have agreed to it, but all of his senior officers, with the possible exception of Worf, would accepted court-martial before following the order. Certainly Data would’t have done it.
You’re dead to me.
DEAD.
13 was an apology for the abortion that was 12. Do you hear me!
Uriah Heep’s “Demons and Wizards” is a truly great, inspired work. As good as Sgt Pepper, Thriller, Dark Side of the Moon, Beethoven’s 9th.
John Sterling (loud, bombastic, egotistical) is great as the radio voice of the New York Yankees.
Preach on, brutha! My mp3 player has Dan Hill’s “Sometimes When We Touch” and Dave Loggins’ “Please Come To Boston”, as well as Janis Ian, John Denver, Anne Murray and Dan Fogelberg. I even have Michael Martin Murphey (“Wildfire”. Don’t pretend you don’t know it.) It will soon have Christopher Cross and Air Supply, as well.
(In my defense, I also have lots of Dire Straits and Ani DiFranco. But I’m a child of the 70’s, and I see no reason to apologize for Poco, the Little River Band, or Carole King.)
