After I found some old MST3K clips of Gamera in You Tube I decided to look for some old serials I barely remember seeing when I was little (serials from the US and Japan came to Central America with a 5-10 year difference) big mistake! Now I can not get that song out of my head! So I needed to share the misery.

Regarding Ultra Seven, Ultra Man etc, I think the reason why they were popular with kids was the idea of mega sizing pro wrestlers and give them 1920’s style death rays. Those shows were the ultimate in camp style.

Trivia: Ultraman and Ultra seven’s creator was Eiji Tsuburaya from Tsuburaya Productions, a special effects man who was responsible for bringing Godzilla to life in 1954.

2007 is Ultra Seven’s 40th anniversary.

And now the MST3K style pot shots from dopers or memories…

I fucking LOVED Ultraman. They showed it on the St. Louis (I think) UHF station in the early 70’s after Speed Racer. We always watched Ultraman then ran outside & played Ultraman during the news. After they reached the end of the Ultraman series they showed Johnny Sokko’s Flying Robot in the same time slot.

I love the Ultraman Theme Song:

Here he comes from a million miles away,
from a distant… planet… man,
comes the hero of our land!

Oh yes, Channel 30! How could I forget? I went to High School with Corky the Clown’s son. (No joke!)

I’m still a big Ultraman fan today. The last two series in Japan (Ultraman Max, which aired in 2005, and Ultraman Mebius, which started in 2006 and is currently airing) have both been a nostalgia treat for those who loved the original and first few earlier series, with tons of guest stars, references, etc. I 've caught up with both Max and Mebius via the internet and they’re both great fun.

I still remember the time my brother wanted to play Ultraman and made his very own beta capsule out of my mother’s personal feminine hygeine items and some duct tape. She just about died when she looked out the kitchen window and saw him running around with it raised in the air…
