Mount Gay loses 150,000 gallons of rum in a fire.
Part of the distillery was destroyed as well. If you are a fan (as I am) of this rum, better buy an extra bottle. Supplies may be scant for a while.

When I lived on St. Thomas for a few months in the mid-70s, Cruzan was the go-to for rum and Mount Gay was the alternate. Both were far better than anything Puerto Rico churned out, IMO. At that time, a fifth of Cruzan was $.80, while a sixer of Coke was much more expensive, so the mixed drinks at local bars were about 90/10 rum to Coke. Good times, or at least what I remember of them were.
Rum and Coca-Cola?
