All Time Worst One Hit Wonders

Sure he did. “Gotta See Jane” (4/71), “Ain’t It A Sad Thing” (6/71), “Candy Apple Red” (7/71) and “Taos New Mexico” (1972). All in Canada, mind you, due to him being Canadian and there being the 30% Cancon rule in 1971.

BTW, “DOA” holds a special place for me. The first time I ever tuned the radio to a station other than the godawful adult station my mother listened to, the dial came to rest on this song. It was so unbelievable to be hearing a guy sing about his missing limbs and bleeding to death, I had to listen to that station until they played that song again. That led to all kinds of other diversions, like my record collection, and working in radio.

IIRC, both Jimi Hendrix and Aerosmith are among those listed as “One-Hit Wonders” as they both had one song break the Top Ten in the US. All along The Watchtower and Don’t Want To Miss A Thing respectively.

As to the poster that added One Tin Soldier, you obviously didn’t see Billy Jack back in the time!

Oh Man! We were drivng to work and listening to Blood Rock on the 8-Track (a type of early tape player for the rest of you) when we were hit broad-side going through an intersection and after several 360’s, we came to a stop only to hear the begining of that song come on:
“We-ooo,We-ooo,We-ooo, we were flying along and hit something in the air…”

Ah, memories.

I thought Aerosmith had top tens, but never a number one before “Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.”

(goes to check)

Yep, “Dream On” charted on Billboard at number six in 1976. Cite. (scroll about halfway down, under “Charts”.) Looks like they had several Top 40, too.

I would add “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’,” except that Nancy Sinatra was no one-hit wonder.

Thanks. I stand corrected. It was a list of those with one numer-one-hits I had seen and was amazed by both. Thanks again.
