Allah Does Not Love You (Chick Tract).

Your link has been fixed, Azael.

thank you!

Hmm. Seems to me that the kind of Muslim who would say “I could kill you for saying bad things about Allah!” would’ve offed that guy by the fifth panel.

Jeff

He doesn’t even quote the Bible truthfully. There have been several tracts where he quotes things vastly out-of-context, or adds little bits to them to make them mean what he wants (The one coming to mind right now is “…so that we may know them (sexually).”)

Mostly. In Islam, we don’t go on about Universal Love near as much as Christians do in this century. If the Christian view of God loves everybody, why doesn’t everybody go to heaven?

The Qur’an tells us that believers in a number of other faiths will recieve their promised reward if they follow the Message sent down to them. Folks like Chick consign everyone who isn’t his sort of Christian to eternal hellfire

There are some types pf people that Allah does not love. “Those who initiate agression” comes immediately to mind.

I wish some of my nominal co-religionists thought about that once in a while.

I must do some research into the original Arabic, but I am not sure what implications the word translated as “Love” may have in various Quranic ayats. Arabic is notoriously hard to translate and an individual word can have different connotations depending on a number of factors.

I suspect this post to be a bit incoherent. Can’t tell. Too tired. I’ll read it again after I’ve slept and probably post any corrections or clarifications.

LOVE

Martin

as long as the christian god sends people who don’t believe in him to hell to suffer for all eternity, that god doesn’t “love” us either. Even if the bible “says” he does.

If you’re reading up on Chick tracts, be sure to check out Death Cookie (about those nasty rotten Catholics) and Dark Dungeons (about those nasty rotten Dungeons and Dragons players). Hilarious.

Oh, and I apologize for the double post, but how about http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0034/0034_01.asp

“I’ve learned the hard way that rock music, even much “Christian Rock”, is a powerful demonic force controlled by Satan. To have the strength to resist it, you must… burn anything you have associated with rock music.”

Anybody else notice the resemblance between “the good Samaritan Manhattanite” who saves Omar and John Waters?

I have always loved the gritty realism of the first panel in “Allah Had No Son”. Standing in the midst of a Mid-Eastern street at call to prayer:
Little boy:“What are they doing Daddy?”
Daddy: “They’re praying to their moon god, son.”

It brings back my childhood, when my father used to take us to fundamentalist Islamic countries and encourage us to make fun of Allah. Sometimes on the way back home we’d stop off in Israel and say “Heil Hitler!” to the Hasids, or we’d walk through Harlem holding hands and wearing Klan robes, but other times we’d just stop for Eskimo Pies.

I think my favorite Chick tract is the one where a boy is possessed by demons who drive him to suicide because his father is a member of the http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0093/0093_01.aspMasonic lodge. The one in which a Christian is almost killed by gay men who disguise it as a gaybashing (?) is also pretty good.

In the one from the OP, I love the fact that Omar is beaten so badly that “a few more minutes and he’d have been dead”, yet is free to leave the ER and able to walk moments later.

In my opinion, though, this is the most disgusting of Chick’s crap (and I’m not even Catholic, or for that matter Christian or Jewish).

Being a relative newbie, I’ve often wondered why Jack Chick’s group pops up in the GD as often as it does. Seems to me that it is a pretty small intolerant and ill-informed sect, with few members and little or no influence on modern Christianity. Why does it warrant the attention?

See, though, paraphrases can be dangerous. Christ does actually appear in the Koran, and he’s regarded by Islam as a prophet (though I don’t know how important of one). So Chick wasn’t lying there. Gross logical manipulation, yes. But not lying.

Not that I think slamming other religions and portraying them as closed-minded zealots (looked in the mirror lately, Jack?) because they regard the one you believe to be the son of god and the messiah as only a prophet is a good thing.

That…is a DAMN fine question.

It’s a bit of an obsession, isn’t it, people?

Jack Chick is mentioned so often because he makes a lot of noise, requiring a rebuttal. And sadly, there are a lot of deluded fools who take him seriously. Plus, he represents, in a pure form, what is so very, very wrong with much of Christianity, if not the religion as a whole: hateful intolerance and blind obedience to a fundamentally inaccurate book.

Jack Chick knows as much about Allah as he does about Jesus.

Where can I find a site where Christian and Muslim fundamentalists debate each other without moderates like us getting caught in the crossfire?

Ah, but he is lying. Chick’s Christ is a hateful, vindictive ogre who damns people to eternal torture for trivial offenses, and that Christ is nowhere to be found in either the Qu’ran or the Bible.

Point taken.

The evening news?
