Is there a test you can take to determine if you’re allergic to anything?
Yes. Go to your doctor and they’ll inject small amounts of common allergens into your back, and then check for reactions about a week later. This will give them a good idea of what you might be allergic to.
There is also a couple of tests that involve drawing blood and testing it to see if you have the immunue cells involved in allergies in your blood, and to test which allergens those cells react to - all without directly exposing yourself.
Both the old scratch test mentioned above and the newer tests have their limitations, but so does everything else in medicine. It’s quite common for an allergist to use both methods.
There’s also usually a history taken - what symptoms you have, when you have them, questions about your environment (including pets) and work and hobbies and food habits.
