Allowing plug-ins, OSX 10.11.6, Safari 11.0

I’m trying to get to a football game on Xfinity. It says, ‘Now connecting to your entertainment experience.’ Then it goes to:

Adobe Flash Player is having trouble.
To continue, install the latest version of Flash Player.
If you have the latest version installed, enable it here.
To see if your issue has been resolved, refresh your browser.

I installed Flash Player and restarted my browser. I went back to the ‘entertainment experience’ page. I got the same as above. After ‘enable it here’, there is no place to click. I refreshed my browser. Same result.

This page says:

  1. Click the Security tab. Ensure that Enable JavaScript and Allow Plug-ins are selected. Click Plug-in Settings.

I have ‘Enable JavaScript’ and ‘Block pop-up windows’, but there is no ‘Allow Plug-Ins’ option.

So… How do I stream my video? It worked last year.

They’ve moved the setting.
It’s now in Safari->Preferences->Websites.

Why, I don’t know.

OK, I see Xfinity under Configured Websites. ‘Automatically use Reader on the websites below.’ Xfinity is turned off.

ETA: I turned Reader on for Xfinity, closed and reopened my browser, and get the same error.

.

Look below that, in the left column, and see if Flash is enabled.

Adobe Flash Player is checked under Plug-Ins.

Try Firefox or Chrome…

(There’s probably a way to get it to work in Safari, but I can’t play with the settings since I don’t have Xfinity).

Firefox doesn’t even get as far as the error. It just stays on the ‘connecting’ page. I don’t have Chrome.

I tried to watch a video in this ABC7 article. Again, it says I need to update or turn on Flash. If I go to Preferences => Websites and turn Reader on, and then click on the link, the page appears in what looks like a frame and there is no video to click on. If I turn Reader off, I can’t play the video.

OK, since you provided a link, I was able to test it.
You need to go to Safari Preferences-> Websites -> Adobe Flash Player, click it to ON, then make sure abc7 is set to have Flash ON on the right. Once I did that, the video played.

That worked! Thanks.

I clicked on the SDMB link in the OP of this thread, and received a warning:

Clicking on ‘Show details’, it says the certificate is issued to *.cloudfront[dot]net, that it expires 17 December, 2017, and This certificate is not valid (host name mismatch). Organisation (under Details) is amazon[dot]com.

Could this be an effect of turning Flash Player on? Or is it something else?
