I haven’t met a (chocolate) candy bar that I don’t like. If it’s not made with chocolate (except for a Payday), then it’s not candy.
I prefer Mounds over Almond Joy. Mounds seems more like a dark chocolate coating which I favor over milk chocolate. I will eat a Almond Joy if one is offered to me.
Chocolate covered, coconut candy is extremely easy to make. No candy thermometers required. Almonds could easily be added just prior to dipping in the chocolate. Homemade candy is a Christmas tradition at our house.
My favorite is Baby Ruth. I keep a bag of the bite size ones in my pantry.
I like Butterfingers and did not know they contained cornflakes. I learned something today.
Almond Joy and Mounds are too dry. Bounty is where it’s at!
I like to put peppermint patties in the freezer. They never really freeze, but get somehow thicker and take a bit longer to chew-very chewy. 1 or 2 after a meal satisfies my desire for a sweet.
I love Mounds, even though I normally hate coconut. Probably because Mounds only slightly approximates real coconut.
Milky Way’s really where it’s at, though. Especially the nougat-free (caramel & chocolate only) Milky Way.
My mom loved coconut; when I was a kid I didn’t really like it, but have developed more of a taste for it over the years. I haven’t tried a Mounds or Almond Joy since I was young. I’m sure I’d like it better now, but I think there are still other candy bars I’d like better.
I was at a grocery store in October a few years ago. They had their bags of fun-sized Halloween candy on a table near the entrance. I saw a candy I’d never heard of before, Spunow bars, but I decided not to buy them.
Necco wafers. Even the licorice ones are good.
eccchh. shudder.
When I lived in Minnesota, I loved Forever Yours bars–vanilla nougat and caramel covered with dark chocolate.
Fast forward 20 years. The local store has Milky Way Dark bars. I read the wrapper. “That’s a Forever Yours” I say to the counter man. He gives me one, and I gobble it down, telling him about Forever Yours bars. Then I buy a dozen.
My absolute most favorite cheap candy. They are now called Milky Way Midnight, but they are just as good.
I always keep a six-mm hex nut in my coin purse.
Sometimes you feel like a nut…
Zagnut!
Movie food: Buttered popcorn and a big box of Junior Mints. Alternate.
I came in to mention skor, too.
I miss the Chunky bar. Yes I know you can sell your car and order 2 of them online but… That seems to take some of the fun out of it.
Almond Joy and Butterfingers are at the top of the pyramid.
Nestle Crunch and Kit Kat are way down at the bottom.
Peppermint patties are refreshing. Paydays are delightful as long as you’ve got a beverage. I love Twix and Snickers, but anything over the fun size is too much for one setting.
Almond M&Ms are really good! As far as cheap, commonly available candy goes, these are my faves.
Local 7-11s used to sell Rice Krispie marshmallow candy/cakes. Love those!
You can say that again.
Not a “coconut with chocolate” fan here.
My faves:
(not generally available in Japan)
Big Hunk
Reese’s Pieces
Payday
Butterfingers
Whatchamacallit
(generally available in Japan)
Reese’s PB Cups (sold in limited locations)
Snickers (smaller size than US version)
KitKat (in assorted flavors besides standard milk chocolate)
Peanut M&Ms (most convenience stores in Japan carry it)
No coconut for me, thanks.
I’ll take a Chick O Stick, a Clark bar, some caramel creams, one of the big packs of grape Now and Laters, a couple of Atomic Fireballs, a box of Junior Mints and a pack of Spree candy. And those jumbo Chewy Sour Sweetarts. Oh, and a Jawbreaker, just 'cause.
For somewhat finer candies a treat at night, I like Andes Mints. For serious candy days, there must be Butter Toffee Cashews.
