Alphas cancelled by Syfy.

Shame, their second season was a lot stronger story-wise than the first. :frowning:

EW reports it here.

Oh that’s just bullshit.

That sucks!

The main reason I am sorry to hear this is because I have an intractable crush on David Strathairn.

I preferred the first season, the second seemed a bit less focused. But I think it at least deserved a third or even fourth season, and a nice conclusion.

Ah, bummer. I was more impressed with the first season than the groove the second season settled into, and the bad guy was a little on the cardboard side.

So I guess it ends with Gary being the last official Alpha.

Unfortunate. I think it was the most solid Syfy series since Battlestar Galactica. Not a high bar, granted, but still. David Strathairn is a quality actor even when working with dreck and it didn’t have the hokey-jokey feel of stuff like Warehouse 13.

Nooooooooooooooooo.

Oh, I’m crushed. :frowning: This show was way better than it deserved to be. No shit, I think this was David Strathairn’s greatest role of his career.

That’s horrible! While there were characters I didn’t care for, I always looked forward to watching Alphas. Gary was my favorite.

Yay! Now we can have more shows about Big Foot!

The curse of Summer Glau strikes again!*

I was pretty sure it would be cancelled, but it still sucks to find out for sure.

*I kid, I kid. I totally love her.

I thought it was a good show in general, but it didn’t get its hooks into me to the point that its cancellation bums me out all that terribly. I wouldn’t mind if we got at least a throwaway line in Warehouse 13 to resolve the cliffhanger, seeing as how they’re sister shows. And if they felt the need to let Nina or Rachel pay a visit, that’d be all right with me. They wouldn’t even have to make out again, but if they did, hey, no argument here.

Heaven forbid that Syfy shows any actual sci-fi. Sci-fi on TV is certainly at a low point right now.

Meh. I *tried *to like Alphas, I really, really did. But I just couldn’t get into it. Too many morose, unhappy characters and episodes. Gary was the only character I liked. He was hilarious. Move on, SyFy, lick your wounds, and come up with an even better show.

Heh. Unlikely.

I liked Alphas. I watched the first season on Netflix; I don’t have cable anymore, so I’ll have to wait for Netflix to put on season 2. Gary was also my favorite character.

I actually thought the show was too good for SyFy as that station has become synonymous with B-grade or even C-grade dreck. Alphas seemed a few notches above to me. Not a great show, but not SyFy terrible.

Oh, ferfucksake.

*Alphas *was my favorite show. It was what *Heroes *should have been. It was the spiritual successor of The 4400.

Dammit, Syfy.

I’m with you. I really wanted to like it, but never got hooked.

And Summer Glau is a curse. Has she had anything last more than two seasons (The Sarah Connor Chronicles)? Is she the new Ted McGinley?

She was only a regular on Firefly and Terminator, though you have a point. She was also on Dollhouse and Alphas.

And the 4400, which lasted a bit longer.

This will give you a chance to check out**Misfits**, a much better show on the same theme.

So, now begins the wait for the update of “The Tomorrow People…”

Didn’t care for Alphas. It has the same issue as most super-power shows. The motto cadged from Spider-Man is always “With great power comes great responsibility.” What the shows actually demonstrate is “You now have super powers! Competence NOT included, see script for details.”
