You’re obviously a nice guy, using your invites to help dozens of your fellow dopers get gmail accounts (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=260726). Come one, come all. Hell, you’re even offering to hook up friends and family of dopers.

So why the won’t you send me one?

I know that I don’t have any claim to one of your invites, but I’m sorry… seeing a post like this :

Um, cckerberos, according to Slashdot, Hotmail may be bouncing, bulk mail-ing, or simply not delivering gmail invitations. Perhaps you should have checked your bulk mail folder first, or at least posted something in the original thread saying, “Hey alterego, I didn’t get an invitation. Did you try to send one?”

Seriously, though, did you try emailing him and asking him about this before taking it to the pit? Because if he’s passing these things around out of sheer generosity and goodwill, he may be less inclined to do so now.

It could be that he just didn’t catch your request - I miss posts every once in a while, especially when they’re coming in as fast and furious as they tend to be when someone is offering something like a free GMail account.

You’re right, he may just not like me, though I can’t think of anything I’ve done that would have caused that.

I’m sure he is doing it out of generosity and goodwill. He seems like a nice guy, judging by his posts in the thread. That’s why I’m confused. I realized that this thread might make him less inclined to send me one, but honestly, he didn’t seem very inclined before.

Certainly understandable if true, and I’ll apologize to him if that turns out to have been the case. But as of this point I’ve made three or four requests and there are a couple more posts in the thread giving me advice regarding getting his attention, so it doesn’t seem likely.
