Alternate smiley definitions?

On the smiley page, quite a few require a word to be typed in.
However, some of these already have traditional ascii art definitions. Could it be set up so both could be used?
Examples:
#-| is sometimes used for confused (there are others)

cool- B-) or :sunglasses: (could be normal glasses, but still helps)

the one used for embarrassed I normally see associated with “wow” (eek?). AIM uses :-* for oops or embarrassed, and that’s the one I remember using in chats a while ago.

>:( or >:| I’ve seen used for mad

:-/ is often used to express skepticism, could it be an alternate for rolleyes?

If multiple alternates could be used, that’d be nice too, although it might complicate things too much.

It’d just be fun if there was an easy to remember ascii art equivelant for each smiley - I’m sure we could even design one for the WallyM7 smiley…

One problem I see right away. Smileys longer then 2 characters are confused with current smileys? Possibly the current system doesn’t even support smileys longer then two characters? That makes things difficult, but not impossible.
Fer example, mad could be:
:< Doesn’t look quite as good as :-< or >:< though

Kyber, our software has its limitations. I’m sure TubaDiva would ask Jerry, the Ubertech, about it if it were possible, but I’m almost sure it isn’t. I’m just glad we have them, myself.

Hm. Well, if alternate definitions are impossible, I’d just as soon use regular smileys for all expressions. It’s easier to remember.

It would be nice to have a greater variety, like at 3FMB. The level of sadness, irony, or plain ol’ snotiness in my voice are hard to get across with the current crop. They don’t need to be animated.

Is anybody else wondering right about now if Sweet Sue and SILENT-BOB are related? It looks to me like a match made in heaven.

Chronos, they may be related, but at the moment, I think the SILENT-BOB has a much broader vocabulary.
