Alton Brown Book Tour - Anyone go?

Last night, Dave and I were fortunate enough to get to meet Alton Brown on his book tour. There were about 250 people there - snow in Baltimore means that people don’t venture out. The previous day at one of his signings, there were over a thousand people.

We got to meet him, and he signed our copies of his books. He’s very pleasant, and looks much more fit in person.

Alton Brown is the host of Good Eats, a show on the Food Network. It’s more about science than cooking, so I know it’s right up most dopers’ alley. In fact, there was a recent thread about him in this very forum, here, and another awhile back, here.
If this is more MPSIMS, then send it on over.

I’m going here in Saint Louis tonight.

Is there anywhere to find out what his schedule is? I’m sure my wife would love to go. I would too but that is impossible right now. We use his rib recipe all the time. The best ribs I have ever tasted.

His website lists appearances.

No Chicago!?
 :frowning:

Tried to get to the Tysons Borders Tuesday night–couldn’t get in the parking lot. Parking is shared with a Best Buy, but it was probably ole Alton drawing the crowd.

I have 2 young teen nieces who think he’s the bomb.

He’s funny and personable in when you meet him. I mentioned to him that he’s hugely popular on the Straight Dope Message Board. His eyes lit up and said he’s a big fan of The Straight Dope and it’s one of his bookmarks.

Cool.

I saw him on his last tour. He is really funny and very nice. He made sure to sign a book for every person who wanted an autograph, no matter how long it took. He also posed for pictures with everyone who asked (including me - yes, I have touched Alton Brown!).

Wow! I am so jealous of those of you who have met him. I got I’m Just Here for More Food for Christmas. I’m bummed I won’t be able to drive down to SF to see him and he’s not coming to Sacramento.

He is very popular at our house. Even my 6 year old son gets excited when Good Eats comes on. We all watch it together.

It’s nice to know he’s a fan of the Straight Dope…wonder if he ever visits the message boards.

Oh my god, he is a fan of the Straight Dope? I think he is the most perfect man alive, and will tellhim so on the 29 when I see him in LA.

Thanks for the list and link. No New Jersey appearances

Rats, I just missed him in Orlando!

As much as I adore Rachael Ray (who is still probably my favorite Food Network personality, for obvious reasons), Alton Brown is the COOLEST!

Our 11 year old calls him our “Food Guru”.

Apparantly, some time in 2004, he spoke at his alma mater, the Culinary Institute of New England in VT. I wish I knew about that, cause I would have driven over to see him. As is stands, there doesn’tr seem to be any northern stops on that tour. :frowning:

If he were coming within driving distance, I’d be so there. Alas, he isn’t. Oh well.

I caught him in NYC Barnes & Noble on his tour for I’m Just Here for the Food. I’ll second (third, whatever) that he seemed like a great guy who took time to talk to his fans.

I mentioned that I had problems with cheesecake no matter whose recipe I tried, and he discussed possible pitfalls or problems.

P.S. It was my old unevenly heating oven.
