Wow. What a huge difference. I’m not sure which way I prefer him best, but as long as he’s happy, that’s what he ought to do. And maybe eat a sandwich occasionally.
As a side comment, his “Good Eats” is the only cooking show I ever watched. He had humor, science (especially the science), and yummy recipes. I also enjoyed the fact that he was clearly a Monty Python fan by his obscure references he would throw at the viewer.
In the 10-year anniversary special, it was revealed that he wrote down “Julia Child, Mr. Wizard and Monty Python” as what he wanted to see in a cooking show. By Og, he’s done it.
I never understood this mindset that has been uttered by so many people. Does this mean that he was fat because he was eating his delicious food all the time? And, if so, is this implying that since he’s skinny all of the food he makes now tastes like crap?
I think it has to do with a chef will be tasting his dishes all day to check/adjust seasonings and flavor, doneness, etc. thus consuming a lot of calories. Thing is, A.B. is not a chef. He does not own or cook in in a restaurant, he’s more of a food scientist/teacher.
