Alton, ya lost too much weight!

(This comes from me, a guy who’s kids thought he was on TV when Good Eats was showing, a couple of years back.)

Good on-ya for dropping 50, I’m working on getting rid of some of it too…but you swung past healthy on your way to cadaverous.

Not a good look for someone who makes a living making a cooking show, IMHO.

Any before and after pics?

Here ya go:

(he does look a little Brando in the before shot…musta been sneaking too many samples taping Iron Chef.)

I went looking for pictures of what he looked like now, and found thislink, that has a couple of close ups. I think he looks fine.

He looked gaunt and old in the Iron Chef White House special.

Hm, so far I have to say that I prefer him skinny. In the before pic he looks like a used car lot salesman from Vegas.

Wow. What a huge difference. I’m not sure which way I prefer him best, but as long as he’s happy, that’s what he ought to do. And maybe eat a sandwich occasionally.

As a side comment, his “Good Eats” is the only cooking show I ever watched. He had humor, science (especially the science), and yummy recipes. I also enjoyed the fact that he was clearly a Monty Python fan by his obscure references he would throw at the viewer.

It’s still been good this year…in spite of his affliction.

<I keed, I keeed>

Emeril Lagasse, on the other hand, is turning into a right jolly old elf.

Based on those pictures and the one linked by Unintentionally Blank, I agree. I think he looks just fine!

In the 10-year anniversary special, it was revealed that he wrote down “Julia Child, Mr. Wizard and Monty Python” as what he wanted to see in a cooking show. By Og, he’s done it.

I like it because he’s a geek.

I appreciate ‘geek’.

Never trust a skinny chef. He needs to back off and eat a cheeseburger or three.

Course, it could be worse.

If you are looking for the healthiest weight, you are going to be pretty gaunt. It may not look good but its healthier.

Oh my God, you’ve put Alton’s head on Carrot Top’s body!

I think he’s never looked better.

Yes, there are some of us who like our men skinny.

Don’t blame me man, I just used google.

I never understood this mindset that has been uttered by so many people. Does this mean that he was fat because he was eating his delicious food all the time? And, if so, is this implying that since he’s skinny all of the food he makes now tastes like crap?

I think it has to do with a chef will be tasting his dishes all day to check/adjust seasonings and flavor, doneness, etc. thus consuming a lot of calories. Thing is, A.B. is not a chef. He does not own or cook in in a restaurant, he’s more of a food scientist/teacher.
