Alzheimer's Treatments

What are the non experimental treatments available to people with Alzheimer’s Disease?

My FIL has early onset (He was diagnosed at 54) and his doctor gave him some reminyl pills that he said ‘don’t work’ and that ‘he has no faith in any of the treatments available.’

I said he should switch doctors and ask about different treatments but he seems not to care. Anyway I ask the doctor dopers and anyone who has relatives in treatment what other options are and if they actually do anything. I’m hoping if I can give him some more specific information he may be more willing to try and help himself or I can bully my MIL into finding him a new doctor!

Look into Aricept. It seemed to do my mom some good, but she never got prescribed until it was too far along. With an earlier diagnosis, it might do more good…we noticed a marked improvement in her condition, but it was just too little, too late.

Thanks, I sent for some information via their website.

I keep pushing for them to be a bit more proactive in his treatments but they seem to be in denial about a lot of this. I tried to get my MIL to attend a support group but that didn’t pan out.
