If not I think it just coincidences and have simple explanations.

If the government were doing it, I agree. But they’re not the only ones who can do surveillance.

Some average Joe, or a less than competent PI, would likely act amateurish and be spotted. If I had reason to spy, I don’t have access to cell phone bugs or whatnot. I’d have to plant cameras or bugs, or fly drones, myself.

I’m speaking from a practical standpoint, to physically tap someone’s phone, it wouldn’t be done from the telephone pole outside the home. The access to it is located in a box often at the end of the block or blocks away.

And no spy application would be displaying a message on a cell phone to alert the owner of the phone something unusual is going on. That’s something in movies they do to show the audience something special is taking place.
