I’m 27, born in 1972. Am I gen-X?
The definition of gen-X seems a little fuzzy. One place on the web claims that it’s “the children of baby boomers”. Another claims it’s those who were “coming of age in the eighties” (I have to confess that all I know about the term “coming of age” is that it’s used to descibe alot of John Hughes movies). Another says gen-X were those lazy slackers from the early '90s (got me dead-on there).
I’ve heard more of a dating system, if you were born between 1965 and 1972-1980 (different definitions) or something, you’re Gen X. I’m 20, and it’s up in the air what generation I belong to. Feh.
Well Swimmingriddles, you really have my sympathy. They tend to call you low-end twenties either Generation-Y or Busters, “Feh” is right.
Part of the reason I asked this question is so I know weather or not to divorice myself from my own generation and strike out on my own (How’s “Baby Doomers” sound? Describes my commitment-phobic goth friends pretty well).
I was born in 72 also Inky and I think were dead on genXers. then again… you dont have to be if you refuse to accept it. haha. I think if you were in highschool anytime in the 80’s it pretty much makes you Generation X.
