Am I incapable of original thought?

A realization has come upon me lately: when trying to assimilate and interpret (or, gods forbid, analyze!) current events, I seem to be very hard-pressed to come up with an opinion.

I have no opinion on the whole Saddam’s-kids-being-dead thing, f’rinstance.

Likewise, I had no opinion when we went into whatever country that was to kill whoever it was (Iraq? Saddam? I surely need to pay more attention  )

I have trouble keeping up with world events, such as this thing I’ve just heard about some Muslim country trying to blame us for their lack of any oil in the ground (yeah, sometimes my roommate yells news tidbits at me from the other room whilst I’m online. I get easily confused.)

Should I, in all seriousness, take a class in critical thinking, or in current world political climate, or something?

I mean, it’s not like I care at all what goes on in the world, it would just be nice to be able to hold a conversation.

I have patience issues. Sorry.

If you consider the amount of thoughts one could have in a day, and then consider the amount of days since the beginning of thought, it becomes difficult to perceive an original thought.

For example, I used to question colors. I wondered if perhaps the red that I see, appears different to another. After being on the boards a few days it seems I’m not the only one fascinated with color.

A bit more of an extreme example is SnakeDog. What would a cross between a dog and a snake look like? I was thinking a snake body with a dog head(maybe a collie would be most appropriate?) I’ve even gone as far to attempt to draw SnakeDog. While I consider this whole creation(or abomination if you will) original, someone has probably thought of it before.

It is my belief that there is no such thing as original thought anymore. So if you cannot formulate opinions about current events, fret not, for others will certainly do it for you.

and that ends my work day  Ciao!

Well, how frequently do you watch TV news, read newspapers, or look at news sites online?

Surely you don’t think you are the first person to ask this?

I have become increasingly disinterested in many/most “mega-issues” over that past several years, as I realized the difficulty of obtaining accurate, not to mention objective, information. And then there is the matter of what effect you can have after putting in the heavy lifting required to develop an informed opinion.

Think we’ll have carry-out Mexican for dinner tonight. Yes, I’m sure of it!
