Your lack the self awareness to see that every suggestion you’ve been offered in this thread, as to why people judge you harshly, you just bat away.
I must have been drunk,
I’m not a racist, anti Semitic, etc.
But generalizations can be useful.
Just go right on doing the same thing then, and hope for different results. How can that fail?
Also, being called on racist, anti semetic, sweeping, whining generalizations is NOT bullying. Complaint of bullying for being called on bullshit poorly communicated ideas sounds remarkably like childish whining.
Consider that your communication skills may need some tweaking and stop taking it so personally, sheesh!
Before this thread I had no opinion on you, but you’ve managed to change that, and I’m now one more datapoint for your thesis. Go the fuck away if you’re not having a good time, but quit your bellyaching about it.
If, on the other hand, you want to change to be less of a whiner, then make the fuckin change.
Protoboard, everything you have written here sounds like a therapy issue to me. You may find private counseling, perhaps followed by group counseling, to be much more beneficial than trying to sort out your personality issues on a discussion board. Best of luck to you with it. Sincerely, tapu
Wait, the Canadian border guards “just wanted to ruin your day?” Did they know you? I mean, why would they have decided “yep, that guy there, let’s ruin his travel plans!!!”
Why do you say that they turned you away to ruin your day?
Would you like me to? I’m in a pretty good mood, but I could throw something together for protoboard.
That’s what has me coming back for more, as I’ve always had pleasant experiences with the Canadian crossing guards. Unlike the US border patrol they never strip-searched me for evidence I suspect was planted (I would never leave behind a roach that big).
My advice? Just avoid the Canadian guards at Peace Arch at all costs. They are the only place I’ve ever really had trouble in. They are very smug there.
No, don’t do that. Happiness and agreement rapidly become cloying and dull.
What we like around here are incisive refutations, trenchant debunkings, strenuous arguments, sarcastic deflatings, long-winded explanations by posters with clear and impressive in-depth mastery of their subject, and the occasional comical drive-by snark.
What we actually want more than anything else is evidence. When you make a claim on the SDMB, back it up. Don’t just say it, show us why it’s the truth.
We’re completely happy to be shown wrong. You’ve just got to back it up with something concrete.
The last thing we want here is for you to fake it. Be honest. (Yeah, a little diplomacy goes a long way.) Tell the truth and shame the devil. But back it up with facts.
I don’t know why you would say that. I’ve always enjoyed your posts, your sense of humour, and your positive contributions to the SDMB. When I see that you’ve posted, I want to read it to see what you’ve said.
Honestly, protoboard, being harsh and antagonistic is part of our culture around here. Like I said, nobody says you have to like it.
But if you keep complaining about it, you come across sort of like a person who voluntarily climbs into a boxing ring and then gets all upset that somebody else is hitting them. Yeah, hello, that’s a major part of what we’re here for in the first place.
