Am I the Black Widow (Thread Killer) of the SDMB?

I was just perusing my postings this morning and I have noticed an odd trend…For the threads I have posted to, 91 in total, I seem to be the last poster or soon to be last (less than 5 posts from the bottom). From my quick count:

15 post ends: ~16%
19 close to end: ~19%

Meaning if I post to your thread, I have a ~37% chance of sending you off into Message Board oblivion. :frowning:

And my thread starts are never successful either…but I can deal with being my own Black Widow…

You’re not, I am.

Or are you?

There recently was a thread in which we all vied for the honorary title ‘thread-killer’. If the hamsters weren’t having a coffee break I could find it, I’m sure of it.

Many infrequent posters suffer under the self-assumed stigma of being a ‘thread-killer’, see this thread, and this, and this. There even is a thread on thread-kill percentage.

So rest assured that you are in good company. None of us other posters is snickering ‘thread-killer’ behind your back.

At least not in the public fora. In the secret forum, however, things are different. I guess they are. I haven’t been invited yet. : dons tin-foil hat :

Well, I found it. The thread-killing champion is if you don’t know i won’t tell, the very OP of the Thread Murderer! thread!

I heard posting in PURPLE and mentioning Hitler then formatting the word Google is a real threadkiller.
seriously

Really ? :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah, you want to kill a thread you just need to go off topic or add something strange but at other times, like a post with spelling errors or those about failed personal hygiene can be a turn off and poof, the thread comes to an end but I think the biggest thread killer is the one in which someone adds something but there is no real content to the post and folks don’t read to the end, they go looking for the back button of thier browser and the worst is when someone just rambles on about something that really doesn’t hold the interest of other readers, like the time my dog Speedway, a german shephard mix, was a little puppy but I am getting off topic about the OP and as we know posts that are just one long continuious sentence can bring even the hardiest Doper to thier knees causing them to not add an additional post to the thread. That is my theory on how to kill a thread.

sounds like crap to me…

But me, me! What about me?
