Am I the only guy who's never put anything in his back pants pocket?

At least by my memory?

I was perusing a thread about the difference between a wallet and a billfold, and all the mentions of keeping stuff in the back pocket made me think of this.

I often keep a hanky in the back pocket of my trousers, but I have never, ever, put my wallet or anything else important there. Stupid place to keep your wallet, if you ask me.

**Am I the only guy who’s never put anything in his back pants pocket?

**You may be the only guy I’ve come across who hasn’t. But probably not the only guy ever.I keep my wallet in the back left (my left). And a plastic comb in the back right.

As an adult, I’ve never placed anything in my back pocket. I’ve used the ultra slim wallet/billfold or money clip in my front pocket

I’ve never noticed anyone put anything in their back pocket. I assumed that they were just for decoration?

If you put a wallet in your back pocket, wouldn’t it be really uncomfortable when you sat down? And wouldn’t it be easy to steal?

Same here, Dale. I started carrying one of these Slim Clips a few years ago when I realized all the stupid, never-use nonsense adding up to an inch-thick wallet.
I have found that I put my car keys into my back pocket if I am wearing jeans while running errands.
They just get in the way up front when I go to grab my clip at the cash register and the clip gets in the way when I want my keys back at the car. Of course, if it is an errand where I may be sitting (ie meal, haircut, etc), they are back up front. Ouch, pokey keys in the backside and pushed buttons on my alarm fob.
This is solely for bulk control, not for pickpocket prevention which is quite rare around here, though perhaps more common in other places.

Back in the day, I’ve worn a hanky or two in one of my back pockets. (Please be advised that many of them are tongue-in-cheek.)

No. I don’t put anything there either.

I keep things in there that I never need, but think I might need someday. A couple of plastic grocery bags, a few napkins from fat food places, a cloth handkerchief that’s been there for years, several feet of rolled up twine. At the supermarket, receipts get shoved in there, and discarded when I change jeans. If I get caught in the rain, I get out a plastic bag to make a hoodie. Or if I need to carry several things I can put them in the bag.

I have a wallet, and a couple times a year, I need to take it along (in my back pocket) for the ID cards that are in it, but otherwise, I leave it home. Usually I just take the card I need for the trip (credit or library) in my shirt pocket.

I haven’t put anything in a back pocket for well over 35 years. I don’t like sitting on anything, or creating an outline that might disturb the view of the ladies.

drivers license? if you don’t keep it in wallet … where do you keep it? inside a clip with the currency?

I got tired of sitting on a wallet when I was about 19. I also got tired of the practice of loading my pockets on the way out the door, then unloading when I got home, so I carried a small man-bag for a number of years. I still carry my wallet in my hip pocket and never (>99%) put anything in my back pockets.

Some people don’t drive. In the USA, a person not driving a car has a right to move about freely without being able to produce ID on demand.

anything other than a hanky wears a hole in your pocket.

Gee, the thread title sure looked like a sexual euphemism. I’ve read the entire thread, and it sure works that way.

I don’t put anything in my back pockets at all, and never have.

I keep my wallet in my back pants pocket, but it is the smallest, slimmest “ID Holder” that I can find, and it only carries essential cards and some cash. When I walk in the door it goes on a shelf, and goes back in the pocket on the way out. However, I will move it to a front trouser pocket if I’m walking around in a dense crowd, for safety.

I use my front pockets, unless I’m wearing my winter coat which has an inside chest level pocket, then sometimes I’ll use that. Back pockets, never. I’d sooner order a steak well done.

I do keep an unbreakable (rubber, sort of) comb in my right rear pants pocket and have for a long time. I quit carrying a billfold/wallet in my pants long ago. Bills are folded and in my left front pants pocket. Wallet in my shirt pocket. Except for keys and change, that’s it for pockets.

I used to keep my wallet in my back pocket until my doctor told me it was bad for my back, sitting on it. It also makes it harder to pickpocket if it’s in the front pocket.
