I have never bought one of these state lottery tickets…powerball, super lotto, any of them. Never a scratch off, either. Just from a cursory polling of folks at work, I cannot find another soul who has never bought a ticket. I just never have the motivation. I do find it funny how some folks won’t buy a ticket unless it gets over $100 million or some argitrary number. Like $20 million just doesn’t float their boat.
No, you’re not the only one. I never have either. I also spent a weekend in Reno without so much as dropping a quarter in a slot machine. There’s always something better to spend the money on.
When they started a lottery in California (12 yrs ago?) I bought one ticket as part of a wedding gift for some friends. But other than that never, certainly not for myself. The lottery is not much different than Heroin as far as I’m concerned, a tax on the poor.
It’s funny/sad how the people who get all excited about big jackpots tend to be lower-class folks. On the one hand you want to laugh like you laugh at trailer-trash on Jerry Springer or something, but on the other hand you feel so bad, like they’ve been born into this life that the only way out is to be hit by that lucky lightning bolt.
Oooh ooh! I haven’t!
Possibly because it’s illegal for me to do so (had decided that he was probably obviously a younger person to you people, so he doensn’t feel the need to cloak it) however.
I was tempted to try and get a Powerball one, but this is before I’m making my own money. Then I’ll probably just spend that on food or whatever.
I’ve never bought one, either. But it’s only been legal for me to do so for a year. I have been tempted, but decided that I was poor enough and didn’t need to begin gambling at such a young age.
Nope, I’ve never paid the tax on people that are bad at math.
Nope, I haven’t ever bought one either, and boy, do I HATE being behind someone buying them by the bundle at the gas station here in Atlanta!!!
Never bought one, and like Anti Pro, I absolutely HATE standing in line in a crowded gas station at rush or lunch hour behind someone who does. It’s not a simple matter of the cashier just grabbing one, they have to specify the kind and then argue because that’s not what they wanted. If you want to waste your money that’s fine, but MY time…eeeeee!!!
I once bought a Keno ticket, but only because I was working at a convenience store, and printed out the wrong thing. Since the guy didn’t want it, I bought it, and won $2.50, putting me in that incredibly small group of people who have made money by playing without hitting anything big.
Aside from that, never. I always just say that I’m morally opposed to gambling with my own money.
i haven’t…i am not lucky enough to win…heh…
Congratulations, lottery non-players. You are all WINNERS!
Remember, you can’t lose if you don’t play.
