Am I the only person who hates "The Hannukah Song?"

I am not a big Adam Sandler fan, in general. But I absolutely DESPISE hearing that stupid “Hannukah Song.” I just want to fucking die when I hear it.

Anyone else? I have a feeling that I’m deep in the minority…

Joe

I’m the first “I Love It!” response… but in moderation.

It’s on my iTunes and gets a play once, maybe twice a year. I still enjoy and have yet to grow tired of that annual listen.

It’s obnoxious, unfunny, and goes on too long. In other words, it’s something done by Adam Sandler. On the other hand, there aren’t that many Hannukah songs out there.

I prefer the Stuart/Colbert Hannukah song.

If it’s the Adam Sandler one I’m thinking about, it got a couple of chuckles out of me the first time I heard it. I wouldn’t want to hear it often.

Once a year is good. I’m not a Sandler fan, but it gives me a smile. As long as it’s once a year.

Hannukah 2010 is over already, isn’t it?

Here is a fabulous Hannukah song. (“Courtney Cox I love you!”)

I love Sandlers song.

I hate Adam Sandler, especially when he tries to sing. (His “Opera Man” routine would make me instantly switch off “Weekend Update”).
But I do like his Hannukah Song.

Not many in English, that is. Plenty of them in Hebrew.

Incidentally, thisis my favorite non-Hebrew Hanukkah song - written by a gentile, more’s the pity.

Yeah, but they showed it on the Christmas special last night.

I’ve never understood Adam Sandler’s popularity, and the Hanukkah song is just one more mystery to me. I smiled a little the first time I heard it, and that’s the best reaction it’s ever got from me.

Which one? Didn’t he do like 3 of them? They were all basically the same (lists of Jewish celebrities, just updated every few years). I found them moderately amusing the first 2 or 3 times I heard them, but they got old really really fast.
I admit I still smile at “OJ Simpson…not a Jew!”

It was cute to hear once. I seriously hate that it’s now part of the regular winter music rotation. It’s pretty pathetic to have nothing better to say about Hanukkah than a list of Jewish (or half-Jewish, or quarter-Jewish) celebrities.

This is my new favorite Hannukah song. (“Candlelight” by the Maccabeats.)

Aarrgh! MsWhatsit, I came in to post that!

ETA: though, I get bonus points for adding that the video you mention was inspired by this video, which is also great IMHO (and that I found out about from a recent posting at the SDMB)

I am sneaky like ninja.

Funny songs are meant to be heard once, maybe twice. Nobody wants to hear the same jokes over and over.

It was funny the first time.

You see, they don’t get old for me, because I forget about them by the time I hear it again. I listen to it maybe once or twice a year, and I cycle which one I listen to.

But my favorite Hanukkah song is the Dreidel Song. I know it doesn’t really mention Hanukkah, but a lot of Christmas songs don’t really mention Christmas, either.

I voted “hate”, but actually I just dislike it. It’s boring and unimaginative.

A much better song is “(I’m Spending) Hanukkah in Santa Monica” by Tom Lehrer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSCmZU0eFJg&feature=related

There’s other good stuff in that oratorio.

“Sound an alarm!” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCom7xVFs88&feature=related

And it ends with its own Hallelujah Chorus (okay, actually “Hallelujah, amen!”) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmXOb0TzlX8
