Note how the car rotates to the left while in the air (this is most clearly seen on the iteration of the crash at the end of the video). I wonder if this helped save him, that the car hit the bridge passenger-side-on.

Long ago, as I stood with my hand on the door to a donut shop (insert cop joke here- I was in uniform) a Camaro launched over a curb and embankment just like above and landed in the parking lot, headed for me. Luckily it stopped a few feet away, and I was able to arrest all three lunkheads for a variety of things.

It looks like he panicked when he saw the police cruiser and veered off the road. Should have just stayed on the road and taken the inevitable ticket. If he survives this and isn’t a vegetable or invalid, I hope they revoke his license permanently.
A link on the video page mentions that the driver was arrested and released for possession of alcohol and paraphernalia an hour earlier. See “Eden arrested and released before crash”.

Looks to me like someone had a hood latch failure - Only the hood wasn’t too well bolted on. Maybe held in place with the lock pins, with no latch at all?

I’m confused by the UPS driver - he was crossing a solid white to try to make his right turn, found a cruiser in his way and wouldn’t/couldn’t yield, but after that, was he trying to start something with the cop he’d just about rammed?
