This article in the Daily Mail made me both incredibly sad and also incredibly hopeful that this issue will be brought out of the “Taboo Topics” column, and into the “Let’s talk intelligently about this” column.

Death is a part of life. Like Sir Terry says, “We have become so successful in that art of living, that we have forgotten how to die.”

Amen, Pterry, amen.

That article brought tears to my eyes.

I agree with him wholeheartedly. I have always found it appalling that we don’t give the elderly the respect that we would a dog. If a dog is suffering we put it down. If an old person is suffering and asks repeatedly to die we…force them to eat.
