90 minutes before the alleged start time, remember to set your various recording devices to allow for football overruns.
Last week, Team Beauty Queens suffered a meltdown but were saved when not even a round of “Tow, Tow, Tow Your Boat” didn’t allow Tom and Terry to catch up. Meanwhile, Peter shows he can dish out the bullshit “encouragement” but he can’t take it, plus he’s a giant whiny pussy.
We’re four legs in and have had neither a NEL nor a Yield. One or both tonight?
I absolutely LOVE the new penalty for coming in last on non-elimination legs. Finally a penalty which doesn’t steal people’s dignity, but does in fact increase the likelihood that the team which finished last on the NEL will be eliminated on the next leg.
I find Peter to be the most entertaining part of this season. Fault him all you like, but Sarah sure had a big smile on her face when they finished first. Peter has worked with Sarah in the past and sure seems to know how to motivate her and get her moving.
The Controvert, yes she did, however I thought she didn’t seem particularly interested in high fiving with Peter at the end as he did with her.
I also really like the penalty for not finishing first. I thinkit holds some real promise and I look forward to seeing how David and Mary make out next week since htey seemed to be significantly behind the other teams.
I’d also like to note that if I were on this Race, Peter would creep me out just because of all the hovering and metaphoric winking and spying this ep. When he passed the *wins and *lyns and basically said to one of the *wins “I can tell you which agency is closest to the train station”, then kept walking, I mentally added “if you follow me into the bathroom…” wink
Hurrah for the new penalty for coming in last in an NEL. I hated the pointless silly begging.
It’s a very tough penalty.
Peter makes “Peter and Sarah” pretty awful. But Rob and Kimberly combine to make “Rob and Kimberly” awful. I think I’ll have to say R and K are my least favorite.
You know, I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone eat arrogantly before. Peter sure is a piece of work, isn’t he? Everything he does creeps me out. He is just devoid of both human feeling and incapable of having normal human interactions. And he called Sarah “sister” again. What guy calls his girlfriend “sister”?
It was interesting that Rob & Kimberly finally managed to tone down the bickering – in India, no less, which is usually where couples start to completely break down. It’ll be interesting to see if they can continue to hold it together. I have my doubts.
Agreed, except that I still hate Peter more than anyone else. Rob and Kimberly were bad tonight, though. That whole conversation on the bus about the smell and the poor people and wanting to be in Europe with the rich people…and you know there was probably more and worse that was edited out. And of course, it never occurs to them that anyone in India (a former British colony) speaks English. At least, I hope it didn’t occur to them, because saying that kind of thing when you actually think the people around you can understand it is worse than just saying that kind of thing in the first place.
It looks like the producers have been paying attention to the fans. Challenging tasks, different locals, new NEL penalty, well fitting pants on Phil. Keep up the good work guys!
Peter is a huge douche. He’s passed Adam on my list of least favorite Racer ever, and is just behind Wil. Hopefully he won’t get anywhere near Flo or Hewhomustnotbenamed.
Are Rob and/or Kimberly related to S6’s Kendra? I hope none of the other bus passengers overheard them. Because after all, no one in India can speak English.
Loved the driver’s license thing. Is that really how its really done there? A five-minute briefing on how to properly honk the horn, then a drive around the block? No wonder the traffic is so insane.
Loved the *Wins t-shirts. And I agree with Phil, that was one bad picture of him.
I agree with jayjay, if *Win hadn’t tried the fake-phone trick, Peter probably wouldn’t have thought of calling ahead to a travel agency.
I’m somewhat annoyed that this leg was largely won and lost on the travel arrangements. I prefer legs to be won or lost on the tasks, such as last week when T-squared lost due to their boat problems.
Ginger got me thinking about Team Ironleg. I suspect that once they get eliminated, Sarah will say all the gracious things about Peter, teamwork, inspiration, blah, blah, blah, until they get off camera, then she’ll dump him out on his ass. Watch Sarah’s Wikipedia page at that point for any updates. (Sarah’s the only contestant in this season of the race, so far, to have her own Wikipedia page.)
Same as Eureka, I like the new NEL penalty. It forces the team to pick up their pace, when they’re already feeling pretty down. Two legs ago, T-squared almost got eliminated by a 30 minute penalty; this race is that close. I hate to see Team Kentucky get eliminated next week; they’ve got spirit. I’d much rather see Rob & Kim go away.
I also wanted to say that, yes, it looked like Kentucky picked the wrong Detour. But I don’t know about that. I don’t really see Mary getting over those walls, especially if her ankle’s still tender.
I can’t believe they didn’t go with “I’m so excited! She didn’t die!” as the ep title.
Yes, I am teh smart, calling the NEL. No Yields so far on the Race, I wonder if they’ve eliminated it?
So, so very happy about the new NEL penalty. I couldn’t care less about the teams preserving their dignity, I just hated the begging because it never hurt anyone. Phil didn’t mention whether the MFE team gets new money or not; I’m guessing yes but I guess we’ll find out.
I’m still kinda confused about the travel arrangements. I thought that when teams booked a flight then they were stuck with that flight, yet teams were switching flights left and right. And how about that Mary, getting someone in a closed office to help her out? Of course it was counterbalanced by David’s “it’s an emergency” lie right before it and Mary’s ever-increasingly shrill “hep me hep me” cries, but still.
Peter. Oh Peter, you magnificent Machiavelian douchebag. Combines the scheming of Wil with the personality of Jonathan. All the plotting and skulking and, really, accomplished pretty much nothing for it. The only thing that worked in his favor was the fake cell phone trick because he clearly would not have thought of working the phones for himself.
But what made it was the “boi-oing” sound effect they stuck in after it.
Alright. Missed the last 20 minutes thanks to DVR not knowing football ran over, but I did get to see the most wonderful Andy Rooney bitch session  Luckily I’ve just discovered Comcast has extended the amount you can set a recording to tape long to 2 hours over. Problem solved.
Anyway, I read the spoiler above so I can assume who came in last and did not get Philiminated, but what is the new penalty for coming in last?
They’re “marked for elimination”. The team has to come in first on the next leg or they get a 30-minute penalty when they arrive at the mat, possibly allowing the other teams to get there before them and thus getting eliminated.
Peter can go stand in the corner if he’s going to act like a three year old, with his petulant “Well, then I’ll walk instead of race” attitude in response to Sarah’s complaint of a lack of partnership. I hate that shit. And while Sarah occasionally irritates me with her Peter…I can’t…Peter…Peter…wait…I can’t… mantra, I give her all the kudos in the world for racing with a fake partner. But it looks like Sarah is finding out that Peter is in a relationship with himself and she is just a “sister” on the sidelines.
I like watching the other teams, for the most part. It looked like Rob was trying to keep his temper in control. Now that team can work on social skills. (The homeless cow comment was too funny.) The moms and the drug addicts are bugging me less. For some reason, I really want the moms to have fun. I’m still rooting for the Cho brothers (drop the props!), the coalmine team, and the beauty queens. All of these folks, including the moms, addicts, and the Bickersons, seem to genuinely love their partners.
Love the new NEL rules. I am so glad they don’t have to beg, just race!
