Thanks, MamaT! I did find them on YouTube. Innertube seems to only have past seasons.
You can also find the CBS video clips here, Jayjay. They do make them hard to find. And usually when I try to watch them, at least half the time they lock my Firefox up. Why does everyone else have so much better online video than CBS? Because seriously, CBS’s sucks.
I don’t think she’ll say something like that at all, I think she’s much nicer than that.
The Cho brothers’ “Who gets to do this? WE GET TO DO THIS!” pleased me. They seem (IMO) to be the only team who is enjoying the experience. Come on, people - whether or not it’s a competition, life is to be enjoyed.
I agree. Although, I thought that they were sorta annoying.
Okay, I remember the Chip & Kim rule. I think Kim did one Roadblock, maybe an eating one.
I just didn’t understand why it was now called the Bowling Moms rule. Didn’t the Bowling Moms switch off on Roadblocks like most teams do?
Kim did the roadblock where they were in Egypt? digging in the sand.
It was called the Bowling Moms rule because they took turns doing the roadblocks, whereas three other teams – Chip & Kim, Colin & Christie, and Brandon & Nicole – only had the female member do one roadblock each. So the Bowling Moms were constantly going up against nothing but alpha males, and ended up getting eliminated because of that. If that 6/6 roadblock rule had been in effect for their season, they probably would have placed better than fourth and very possibly could have won because Kim and Nicole were particularly weak where roadblocks were concerned, and Christie was okay but not up to the Moms’ level.
Right, as I said, it may have turned out to have worked for her (although she was having some trouble, but of course wasn’t the only one). But she’s agreeing to do the Roadblock before even seeing the Roadblock area on the basis of exactly one piece of information: “Who’s got strong arms and legs?” As presented on-screen, she and Peter didn’t seem to have any discussion, she ripped the clue and read it and then there was an immediate cut to her running with a VO of her saying “I can do it, I’ve got arm strength.” When they’re in the boat she reiterates that she has has strong arms and legs but that she’s going to be slower than the other climbers, and Peter offers her some encouragement. So, yeah, I still gotta think that it was a poor decision based on the information she had available to her at the time, and based on what was on-screen it was all hers. They didn’t show Peter saying a word about it until they were already on the boat heading for the ascenders.
I’m wondering if maybe she had a talk with him during the last ESM about how his psychotic over-encouragement was making her bug. Because really he was engaged in a pretty appropriate level of encouragement throughout her climb. He may have been the victim of a little editing mischief with the beverage sipping.
I also wonder if the ascenders were rigged for single-leg on the theory that she might take the Roadblock? I’m pretty sure that the other times we’ve seen them they’ve required the use of two feet. And why I wonder did she not switch to her fott-foot instead of the curvy metal one? Seems like, just for the horseback riding, that foot would have been her better option. Of course the rocket foot would have been even better but maybe she’s saving that one for an emergency.
I could swear before they got the clue, she said she should probably do this one, but when she read the make-your-decision info, she was reluctant and saying, “I don’t know,” and Peter responded something like, “You’ve got strong arms, you can do it.” I don’t have possession of the TiVo right now (this being a holiday, Papa T. is home and watching that TV) to confirm it, but I’d be willing to make a wager that he was pressuring her because she had strong arms, conveniently ignoring the strong legs part of the clue. And in the rush/rush/rush mode everyone is in when they get clues, she might have skipped right over the last part of that phrase.
Anyway, if someone has access to the video, maybe they can confirm it one way or the other?
They this site: The Amazing Race All Stars Spoilers/Speculation
They repost the vids to play in realplayer, and they are much more stable.
After watching the insider videos I like Mary more/less. I don’t like the way she talks to Dave, but I live her enthusiasm. But these videos make me HATE Rob. Hate, hate, hate. Maybe it’s the name.
I did get a chuckle out of the text messaging contest last night though. It was along the lines of who has the most annoying partner Dave, Sarah, or Kim.
I love this season. What a tough day!
I thought of that, but there’s a lot that we don’t see and I’m not sure exactly how much the teams know about the roadblocks in advance. Maybe they knew it was the sort of climb she could do. And with Peter doing the first three roadblocks (eating fish eyes, shooting a flaming arrow, selling flowers from a bicycle (which might have been tricky for her)), she really had to do this one to keep their options open later. (Assuming the Bowling Moms rule is still in effect.)
As for the foot, I don’t think there was any way to use the off-leg during the climb, so you might as well take the lightest one you’ve got.
I’m watching it even as we speak and it came down just as I typed it. There was no footage of them discussing the clue, just rip, read, run-with-VO.
AFAIK they have to make the decision based on the single-sentence clue they get upon opening it? “‘Who’s hungry to stay in the race?’ You are.” “‘Who’s ready to pedal some dough?’ I’ll do it.” and so forth. Then they have the inner envelope with additional details. I doubt it gets to the level of detail of “your ascender will be rigged for a one-legged climbing position” or whatever, which is why I would have expected Sarah to change to a more foot-shaped foot in case it had to go in a loop or stirrup of some sort.
And really that kind of shows that they’ve made kind of poor Roadblock decisions so far. She definitely should have done the fish eyes and possibly the arrows.
Or for that matter, leave it off entirely. No hauling the weight and no chance of smashing it on the rock and damaging it more than it’s already damaged.
And you know, speaking of that damage, I wonder if Team Ironleg is allowed access to tools in the way that say, Rob was allowed access to medical personnel.
Interesting. Apparently my memory is faulty. I could have sworn he was pushing her; maybe I was just reading something into it that we didn’t see. Not that it lessens my dislike for him any, which this episode was based partly on his smirk while he drank the Coke and offered his emotionless “motivation” to her doing the climb, and partly on his smirk as he sat there on the boat ignoring her talking about how disappointed she is in him. Frankly, even if he were as pure as the Dalai Lama, I’d have trouble getting past that smirk.
I suspect they’ve got a mini toolkit with them, which presumably they’d be allowed to keep even if they get stripped of belongings in an NEL (which I devoutly hope is a penalty they have done away with this season!), along with her spare foot. A toolkit is definitely equivalent to medical attention.
I think you’re right, as far as it goes. But it also wouldn’t surprise me if the producers designed the tasks for for this race so they could all be done (maybe not easily) by someone with an artifical leg, and told the teams that before they started.
Except she had to get to the rope, climb, cross over the top and rappel down the other side to a different platform than they started on. I think she needed both legs for most of it.
Now that I think about it, I wonder how they got people to the top of that rock to string all the ropes and such in the first place.
I see. Thanks.
He actually had the balls to refer to them as “foreigners”. YOU ARE IN THEIR COUNTRY, NUMBNUTS!
Gaaaaaaah. Our power was out until 8:40 on Sunday night, so all we got was the last 20 minutes of the show … and of course it sounds like it was a great one. I frekkin’ hate PECO.
YouTube had them. It’s how I watched it last night. But I just searched for them to give you the URL and I couldn’t find them…
And don’t forget about the TWoP recaps. Not as good as watchig but much better than nothing.
For those who did manage to see it, what did we think about the BQs getting on the boat ahead of the *Lyns? It was hard to tell from the camera angle but it sure did look to me like they sniped that boat.

I missed it, but…
-
It’s a RAAAACCCEEEEE!!!
Full disclosure: the beauty queens are my favorites, and the whiner moms are my least favorite.
Yeah, I’d say that it would only count as “sniping” the boat if the *lyns had already been in the boat and the BQs had tossed them overboard.
