Amazing Race 4/27

Well, that was almost appropriate. I thought the rest of the race was going to be Titlis, but apparently not for at least one more week.

The ending surprised me.

The girls are…not bright. I’m not really sure how the car task stymied them so much.

I also had to stifle some laughter when Dave jumped the turnstile in the gonDOLa station and fell. I was like, dude, don’t tear your Achilles tendon!!

Shoot! I just posted.

I’ll ask to have my thread merged with this.

I liked this episode (the dogs were adorably awesome[sup]*[/sup]), but was there a Detour missing?

  • And awesomely adorable.

Yes yes doggies! Yeah, no detour this week… maybe it got edited out for more reaction shorts of doggies?

I enjoyed the episode, but I’m starting to have sympathy for Brendan and Rachel (are those their names ?) because I am sick of hearing about how mean they were to U-turn Connor and David. If you want to play the game, you take the bad and the good, and getting U-turned is part of the game, been if you have good hair. And listening to the girls talk about the alliance makes me want to tear my hair out!

I taught in a junior high for many years, and listening to these people reminds me of being there.

I hope the cowboys win. They seem to be the most mature of the entire bunch.

Pai325 is could just about quote your post and add, “Me too!” I feel like going into a Seth and Amy “Really??!!!” segment. I cannot believe how butthurt Connor and David are about the UTurn. It’s gaaaame. You are competing. I don’t agree with underhanded backstabbiness, but uturning someone isn’t that. It’s just playing the game.

And the ‘Accidental Team’ or whatever they were calling themselves acted entirely like a mean-girl high school clique. I expect them to start spreading rumors in the cafeteria restroom that Rachel is a slut. Seriously childish.

I’m rooting for the cowboys too, but if Brenchel ended up winning, I’m almost to the point of cheering for them.

That should say even if you have good hair. My iPad doesn’t like the way I type.

The more Dave speaks, the less I like him. I was rooting for them at the beginning because they did so well last time until they had to bow out, but he is such a whiny child. Making fun of how Rachel speaks? As he is overly fond of pointing out, he’s a 60 year old man! How nasty of him.

I’m not gonna lie - if Dave is forced to do a physical task and injures his Achilles again, I’ll be cheering.

I’d like to see either Brendan & Rachel or the Cowboys win.

I’m a little annoyed. I thought this leg had a lot of work in it, and then turned out to be a non-elimination leg.
Is there a reason there are 3 non-elim legs per season (other than it’s always been that way)?

I figured it would be a NEL near the start. Just felt that way.

It’s quite possible they got diverted - the episode was kinda weirdly setup. They left the piazza at sunrise, went to the train station, then got on a train that arrived at midnight… and had to wait for the Wilhem Tell dude to come out at sunrise. The challenge also seems like the sort of thing that they would’ve needed a backup for had it been snowing. I bet they had a couple of different things set up, and since the weather was nice, decided to go for the mountain top.

I noticed that, too. When the cowboys were buying their train ticket, didn’t the agent tell them they’d arrive in the early afternoon?

I’m starting to have some sympathy for Brenchel as well. When they u-turned Dave and Connor, it was mean. When Dave and Connor u-turned the Afganimals, it was “what they had to do.” And Brendan was correct that the girls would eventually run into a task that no one could help them with. I had to laugh when one of the girls said, as they thought they were on their way to being eliminated, “Well, whatever, Brenchel. You’re not part of the Accidental Alliance!”

Hmmmmmm. Million dollars…or accidental alliance? Whichever shall I choose?

It seems almost every episode this season has had an animal task in it. I know this because every time an animal is on the TV, my pug freaks out.

Also, every episode I find myself ping-ponging back and forth between what team to root for based on the repugnancy of the other teams. Right now, it’s the cowboys and I’m not very happy about that either.

I wonder if one had to do the math to get the question right on the Mustangs. I knew a couple of the years right off the bat.

Was that the same mountain they used awhile ago to go out on the ledge and get the gnome?

I’m tired of Dave’s whining about the u-turn, but I’m not ready to get behind Team Brenchel yet. If they want to run a race “without any friends”, that’s fine, but don’t be so obnoxious about it. The Cowboys are basically doing the same thing as Brenchel, but you don’t see the same kind of animosity towards them.

I missed the first several minutes because of severe weather coverage. They switched over about the time that Brenchel were on the train alone being all smug until three other teams hopped on at the last minute. Did I miss much?

That was the Eiger, I think.

I’m not really on board with cheering for Brenchel yet either, although I hated the way the ‘accidental alliance’ were badmouthing them on the train. Right now I’m hoping for a Cowboy win, since they seem to be staying out of the drama.

It’s almost like the producers are trying to engineer extra drama. Just let the Race happen. That’s what I liked about the series. If I wanted to see nastiness or juvenile antics, I would be watching Survivor or Big Brother (which I don’t).

There was a post on the Reality Fan Forums saying that there were sightings of the Amazing Race production crew at St. Patrick’s Well in the last leg in Orvieto. That didn’t make the edit, but it may have been a factor.
