Amazon.co.uk : claiming a marketplace refund

Ive tried their FAQs and a wee bit of googling but I cant quite make sense (maybe I’m too tired) of a tick box option on their claim form.

some background, I bought a book off someone selling on Amazon marketplace, after about a month the book hasn’t arrived so I can use the amazon file a claim form to get a refund. The form asks me to select the reason why I want a refund. In this case the item was not delivered, then it asks for a summary of my contact if any with the seller then I have some tick boxes. The normal Ts & Cs, then one stating that I’m aware a fraudulent claim is illegal, one saying that I will do my best to help amazon, provide emails etc. Then this one

should I tick this ? it seems like it might be saying that if I do tick it Amazon can have my money ? is that the case or should I go to bed and sort this claim in the morning ?

I think this means that Amazon return your money first and you assign the claim to them so they can then persue the vendor to refund Amazon.

Good luck.

I’m a small-time seller on the US Amazon site… maybe 1 unit per day for the last year.
I’m active on their forums.
Your best bet is NOT to fill out the A-Z claim form you’re looking at.
Contact the seller through the links provided on the site and request a refund.
Reasons for my suggestion:
Amazon won’t refund you until 3 days have passed OR the seller responds. The seller will likely respond immediately
You only get a limited number of claims through their system. The lifetime limit is 5 claims last time I checked.
You can always do an A-Z claim if they haven’t answered in a few days.
You’re less likely to receive negative feedback.
More than 1 at-fault A-Z claim per 1000 transactions may get a seller banned for life. I don’t know if you care about that at this point…
