We have Amazon Prime, i.e. two-day “free” shipping on most of what we purchase.
Last Thursday, about 10 PM, I ordered some items. A half hour or so later I got an email about one of them saying it had shipped - for guaranteed delivery by the following afternoon. “Wowsers, that was fast!” I thought. I have actually gotten an item in less than 24 hours, once or twice, so this was surprising but not impossible.
Then I checked tracking from Amazon’s page and it said the item was scheduled for delivery by Monday (which was when I expected it).
Sure enough, it arrived Monday.
Tuesday of this week, I ordered something else. Expecting it to be received Thursday. Using the Amazon tracking link, I see the interesting combination of “out for delivery”, “Your package is out for delivery to your chosen pick up location” and “expected delivery date Friday at 8 PM”. And the detailed tracking shows the most recent activity as leaving a FedEx facility in West Virginia (it’s conceivable that this could be delivered today but would be surprising). It should arrive tomorrow (Thursday).
I double checked because that sounded like it was going to be sent to some kind of receiving point, but no - it was a regular order.
