Amazon Prime Video says I am streaming the maximum number of movies at once. Not the case

Title sets things up. I am watching on a fiber connection, on my Mac computer with a 24" monitor. Other video streams smoothly with this setup, including Netflix.

For over a year, viewing material on Amazon Prime hasn’t been possible. The audio streams smoothly; the video stalls every few seconds. If I make myself move my cursor around the screen nonstop, the video will never stall. ( Somehow this seems important. )

A little while ago I went to try it again. Found something, clicked Play. Decided it wasn’t for me, backed out. Normally when you back out of a movie or show, it stops streaming. RIGHT?

I got a warning saying I am streaming the maximum number of titles at the same time and I am locked out until at least one has stopped streaming. Is this how I find out my Amazon is hacked? Is my account stuttering because someone is streaming product nonstop ??

Thoughts?

Change your Amazon account password and use TFA.
Change your home network password.

You need to ensure your access is secure .

What is TFA ?

Also, I use a Password Vault but do not think Amazon is in it yet. ( Don’t ask. )

Will make that change now.

Thanks !

Oh. Duh. Two-Factor Authentication. Will do.

I’ve had this happen at least once. I shared my account with my (new) stepdaughter, who then used it to watch movies on a friend’s tablet, who then used it when she went to her friend’s house, and so forth and so on. When I got the message from NF, I checked who was logged on to my account and found one person in CT, one person in MA, and two in NYC. I live in NC.

Can you disable the additional users in the Amazon app or website?

This is useful- I will look around NF and see what that info is.

You should be able to list what devices are currently using your account. I simply forced them all off and changed my password. No problems since.

I had a similar experience after changing my Amazon password. There is an option to log off all devices.

I linked my tv back to Amazon and all was good.

I only have my phone and tv logged in. My laptop isn’t connected. I don’t need access to Amazon on my laptop.

I’m on the other side of that. I regularly watch TV with my friend, David. I went to check out the new murderbot show, expecting to pay for it, but it just played. Afterwards, i realized David’s account was logged onto my TV.

I told him. Neither of us can remember him logging onto my device, or why he might have done so. But it says the profile is “David” and i can’t imagine anyone else with that name would be logged on.

So it’s really easy to have random instances of your account logged in by mistake.

Thank you. Will work on cleaning up anyone accessing this account.
Weird that the profile was named David but neither of you remember his logging in.
