I guess it boils down to this. If you are an optimist at heart, you will like this movie. If you are a fundamentally pessimistic person, it may not move you.
Me, I loved it. If AB doesn’t win the Oscar, a fraud has been committed. I have seen the other nominees, and the only one that comes close is The Sixth Sense.
An optimist? When your life finally turns good, you get killed by a gay marine?
That’s not really what optimists want out of life, I think.
I just don’t like movies about dysfunctional families, but really just don’t think it deserves all this praise. Obviously the people who liked it saw something that I didn’t. (I fear for those people ;))
