"American Dreams"

Does anyone else enjoy watching this show? It’s set in Philadelphia, starting in late 1963 (the first show ended with JFK’s assassination) and includes clips from American Bandstand from that era (guess it helps that Dick Clark is the EP of the show).

Maybe because I’m of that generation, but I -love- watching this show! In 1963, I guess I was about the age of Patty – the obnoxious (IMO!) younger daughter who was in the spelling bee. LOL. Also, they’ve done a great job of integrating clips of AB with what they’re portraying on the show, especially the performers. I don’t know what they’re going to do, though, when the show moves into 1964. Unfortunately, Bandstand moved to LA in early 64. :frowning:

It’s really somewhat of a history lesson; I watch the shows with my kids and then we talk about what the early to mid 60s were like. It’s hard to believe what attitudes were like just a short 40 years ago, or how much has changed (and how much still needs to change!).

If you haven’t had a chance to catch the show, watch it at least once. It’s worth it, believe me.
