American Heritage Subscribers

I got something in the mail today for American Heritage Magazine. What I wanted to know is, is it a respectable magazine or is it bogus. For some reason it seems too good to be true. I think it looks really interesting. Someone please help! Thanks

I’ve subscribed to American Heritage for years. It’s one of the top general history magazines in the U.S.; I read through each issue avidly.

Yup, AH is legit. I’ve been a subscriber for over a decade.

It’s owned by Steve Forbes. I do believe it loses money hand over fist for him, but he’s committed to keeping it alive for sentimental reasons. It’s been getting more anemic – editorial content and ads – with every passing year. My guess is that they run very attractive subscription promotions to boost circulation so that they can keep the few advertisers they have.

I’m not renewing my subscription after this year, as the articles just don’t seem as interesting to me anymore. I don’t know if that means the articles are worse, or whether my interests have simply changed.

Yeah, I used to have a subscription, too, now that I remember
(dim bulb flickers) Its been a few years but it was a quality rag at the time.

American Heritage is one of those magazines that people like to save up years and years of and then donate to their local library.

But not as much as National Geographic.
