American Idol (04/29)

RickJay:

“This strategic voting is going to get Ruben or Clay kicked off the show.”

No, it won’t. Those two have fanbases far too strong and rabid.

LilCutie, if you still need it, the toll free number is 1-866-IDOLS-## (contestant #).

Not if I can help it. At this point, I don’t care who goes first, next or otherwise. I’m voting for Clay for 2 hours as often as I can get through every week. That boy just blows me away.

And every week I get angrier and angrier that none of those judges ever has the balls to call Ruben on his mistakes or his boring, stupid moves or the fact that he always picks the “safe” songs. He was downright terrible tonight – off key, missed notes, sliding through notes, whining his way through runs. If he wins, he’ll cut 2 CDs – the first will be a huge success because of fan momentum and the 2nd one will flop. By this time next year we’ll all be saying “Ruben who?”.

Meanwhile, the brilliant Neil Sedaka will write and produce Clay Aiken and he’ll SOAR for decades!

Off to call some more…

I saw the olive oil bit – the way they presented it, it looked like they were trying to say that she’s the innovator of this technique.

Less trot-inducing methods include potato chips, cocoa, and Throat-Coat tea.

Ruben 1: very good, a bit of a different sound and performance for him.

Trenyce 1: also very good, she’s been improving the past couple of weeks.

Josh 1: yuck.

Kimberly 1: good, not great. I thought she was better last week.

Clay 1: outstanding–a different sound for him, I thought.

Ruben 2: Wow.

Trenyce 2: Really, really good. This is the first time she’s seemed relaxed.

Josh 2: He really sucks, compared to the other four and especially compared to Clay. Please go away.

Kimberly 2: Very good but she just didn’t do it for me. I thought that Clay, Ruben, and Trenyce were all better than Kimberly tonight.

Clay 2: Technically outstanding but the performance bored me. I don’t like his fake tan.

Clay is definitely the best singer but Ruben, to me, has a certain genuineness to his singing that makes him more interesting to watch. If it doesn’t come down to those two something is very, very wrong. Josh clearly has to go. I’m ambivalent about Kimberly and Trenyce. Kimberly has been singing great the past few weeks but I really liked Trenyce’s performances tonight.

RickJay, I agree with your thoughts on how well they did.

Was anyone a little sad that there was no Carmen or Kim C. to make fun of? It seemed as though there was a strange void of bleating.

CLAY, CLAY, CLAY!!!

I’m such a fan. I really want that kid to win. The voice that comes out of that scrawny little body hits me over the head every time.

It’s either Ruben, Clay, or Kim L. obviously now. Though I hope enough people vote for Kim L. for her to beat Trenyce or Josh next week!

Of course, Ruben wins it :). He’s awesome!

Clay all the way baby!!

I hate to say it, but Ruben was #3 for me last night. Kimberly was great and Clay was fantastic. I don’t know which of his songs was better. I really did enjoy Trenyce’s second song, and the first was entertaining but too much of an imitation. Josh sucked.

I had forgotten what a great writer Neil Sedaka is. I loved this week’s show.

Ruben 1 (“Ain’t too Proud to Beg”): I enjoyed it, but Ruben didn’t take any chances.
Ruben 2 (“Breaking Up is Hard to Do”): Same as Ruben 1. He’s got a great voice, but he’s not pushing himself too much.

Trenyce 1 (“Proud Mary”): I didn’t care for the song at all, so it’s hard to judge if she sang well or not.
Trenyce 2 (“Love Will Keep Us Together”): Better than the 1st song.

Josh 1 (“Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye”): Mediocre. I didn’t think he was as bad as he’s been in the past, but it’s still not good enough.
Josh 2 (“Bad Blood”): Worse than the 1st song. And I agree with Diogenes the Cynic, he always looks like he’s trying to take a dump. And what was with the veiled threats towards Simon? Very mature Josh.

Kim 1 (“I Heard it Through the Grapevine”): Like with Trenyce, I didn’t care for her rendition of the song at all.
Kim 2 (“Where the Boys Are”): Much better. A great song for her voice, and she did it well.

Clay 1 (“Build Me Up Buttercup”): Great! I’m glad he did something different than usual, and it payed off.
Clay 2 (“Solitare”): Excellent performance once again. I agree with Simon that Clay seems to be taking criticism the right way, and using it to improve his (already good) performances.

Top 2: Clay and Ruben
Bottom 2: Josh and Trenyce. Josh should be going home tonight.

Am I the only one who found Neil Sedaka a little creepy? Just the way he commented on the performances seemed odd.

Could it be his ill-fitted clothes? If Ruben can find stylish clothing that fits him, why can’t Josh?

Ruben: Did his thang, Dawg. And should have - he’s going to win this way, so why take a chance?

Clay: Not the same thing, but close.

Kim: Found her voice lately, and I love it.

Josh: Not a bad country singer, really, and “If It Don’t Work Out” works that way, but this is a pop contest. Adios. “What did you do in the war, Daddy?”

Trenyce: Has the skills, but too self-conscious. Doesn’t seem to be enjoying herself.

Ryan: The Creedence Clearwater Revival version of “Proud Mary”?

Simon: What’s hard to understand about “Why do you build me, Buttercup baby, just to let me down?” etc.?

I’m still amazed at how Kim neutered “I Heard it Through the Grapevine”. She took everything that was distinctive about that song and stomped on it.

Josh seemed to be mad for some reason last night and it had a distinct effect on his singing. I’ve been a fan of his for a while, but he’s screwed up for the past two weeks and I’m pretty sure he’ll go tonight.

For the past few weeks, it seemed to me that nobody was improving, that nobody was taking it to the next level, and it was just going to remain a sub-par mediocre talent show. The only exception was Kimberly Locke, who has refined her singing and presentation skills to bring them up to the level of almost Clay and Rueben. I was beginning to think that none of them would grow to the quality that I would expect out of my AI

Last night’s show, impressed me and I sighed in relief. Everybody, save for Josh, came out and moved their performances up a few notches. I even begrudingly admired Trenyce.

Anyone else think that the word “pitchy” should be removed from Randy Jackson’s vocabulary?

Let’s face facts, the war is over and Josh needs to go. I don’t think he cares if he gets kicked off, either. Look at his song choice “then you can tell me goodbye” and “bad blood.”?! If this isn’t foreshadowing, I don’t know what is.

p.s I agree that J. seem to be pushing a dookie w/ every song.

All I know is that the battle for third will be pretty huge should Trenyce end up safe this week.

I’m also thankful for RealityTVHell.com where the reviewer LOVES Trenyce! WHEEEE!!

MrsGiggles.com loves her too.

Gods, if Trenyce ends up eliminated, there will be DEATH!

I also think Trenyce is wonderful. She was so great last night, and I also thought she sang that Top Gun song really good on Billboard night.

I REALLY like her! Hope she makes it far!

Ruben is in the bottom two, and Josh is safe?!?!?
WTF?!? I’m just stunned. How is this possible? Josh sounded just dreadful yesterday.

Ruben in the bottom two???

If I was Simon (or Paula or Randy for that matter), I’d walk off this retarded show!

Josh better be glad for his Marine training, because he just dodged a grenade.

Happy

Congratulation to all the idiots who cast 100 votes “strategically.” I said the strategic voting could get Ruben or Clay booted, and I was right. It’s disgraceful Gracin isn’t being booted off.

And the ONLY possible explanation for Josh being in the bottom last week, but not this week, is “strategic voting.” Well, and people voting 200 times.
