American Idol (04/29)

I think FOX is fixing the votes to make the whole thing more dramatic. (And fromt the tone of this thread, it seems to be working quite well.)

Knowing that idiots are calling in and voting 200 times make it less of a “cheat” to move the final tally up or down a notch.

(Slight hijack: Only hope the 18-21 year olds who are so rabid about these voting results will remember how important a vote is come November 2004!!!)

I think next week, just to give even more suspense, the final two will be Clay and Josh.

And anyone who says they are voting for Josh because he is a good singer and not because he is a Marine is lying or tone deaf.

For the love of god, it’s RUBEN. R-u-b-e-n.

Well, last time I looked, this is America and I can vote for anyone I choose for any reason I choose. I can even choose not to vote. So, even if you KNOW for sure that millions of people voted for Josh “just because he/she is military,” take your argument outside. It’s really tiring.

I was really hoping that Josh would be the one to leave us last night. I am not upset with the fact that it was Trenyce’s last appearance. I was surprised that Ruben was in the bottom two but at least happy that he was not eliminated. Fairly, Josh’s performance was far worse (plus, now I’ve got the song “Bad Blood” running through my head. I thought I’d suppressed that one years ago…). If people were voting strictly on performance, Carmen, Julie, Kim C and of course Nicki McKibbon would never have lasted as long as they did. What to do about it? Vote for the person that you think deserves to win or don’t complain when they don’t. Seems fair to me.

H

Well, for one thing, the voting is done through phones, not voting booths. Which means, if you’ve got ten people at your house and only one phone, that phone’s probably going to be used ten times. And if you’ve got ten teenagers in the house, there’s going to be a lot of problems if you go with a one phone/one vote idea. The only way to implement other option, one person/one vote, is to have people register to vote, clearly insane.

Plus, trying to implement the one person/one vote thing would take away my ability to vote against somone (i.e. by voting for everyone but that one person).

Fox officials (if you can trust them) have stated that the difference in votes between people are usually at least a million, and vote controlling would have very little, if any, effect.

Let me see if I have this straight…

You’re giving me the “this is America, I can do what I want” speech regarding your vote and then basically telling me to shut the fuck up because you’re tired of hearing what I thought about the military voting? Good grief! Your hypocrisy is astounding.

Well, I’m not so sure this is it. I’ve heard more than I’ve wanted to about what my women friends want to do to Josh in bed…

::shrieks in horror::

If only one could suffer hysterical blindness of the mind’s eye.

Really? I don’t pay much attention to the talky bits. What did he say?

He said “I’M GOING TO GOUGE OUT YOUR EYES AND SKULL-F…”

Oh wait, that was a movie I was watching last week…

Simon criticized his performance and Ryan asked Josh about it. His reply was something to the effect of “he should be glad I have Marine restraint.”

Clay.

It’s all about the Clay.

As long as Clay stays safe, so long as Clay wins, all is right with the world.

I’m with the folks who say Ruben is phoning it in. His voice is very nice but his performances are deadly dull. Clay sings and PERFORMS rings around him.

It’s all about the Clay.

I see. Thank you.

EVEN if he is… there is no reason why he should be kicked off before Josh… NONE!

Heh. He definitely should have been in the bottom two Wednesday night, but I can also see why some women find him so irresistable. I think it’s just the whole “men in uniform” thing. My boyfriend is in the Army National Guard, and I love it when he wears the uniform on Guard weekends.
