American Idol: 2/8

Maybe!

I also liked David Brown. His voice is wonderful and he reminds me of a student here who is such a great, classy guy.

She also had the Carmen Rasmussen goat vibrato going on.

I’m totally in the Scott Savol (I think that’s his name) camp. His voice is so warm and comforting. I thought he did Stevie really well. Come to think of it, I liked all of the people in the “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” montage.

Is it weird that Simon was in my dream the other night?

Me too! Honestly I think she was just over-tired. I kept wanting to shake her and tell her to go back and get some rest. I think she might have felt differently after a good eight hours of sleep.

It was interesting to see the difference between her and the mom who lost 40 lbs. The girl who went home was willing to give up a possible music career because she wanted to be with her son. The mom who lost 40 lbs., on the other hand, acted like she didn’t have anything to live for anymore after she got cut. WTF? You’ve got a supportive husband and a beautiful daughter at home. That’s not something to live for? Anyway, I was glad to see her go. If I had to watch the clip of her saying she didn’t know what she’d do if she couldn’t express herself creatively one more time, I’m not sure I’d be able to go on living.

Yeah, I think the mom who lost 40 pounds and hocked her wedding ring has some deeper issues. Either that or she was purposely trying to make her story more dramatic so she’d get more air time. Maybe I’m cynical but I doubt that many of these people’s stories are completely genuine.

I wonder if the one that quit was encouraged to quit for the drama or it or if she had initially told someone that she wanted to quit, so they decided to keep a camera on her. They can’t possibly have a camera on everyone, although they did seem to have a spare one for the girl who got on the wrong bus.

Maybe she could write a diet book.

An enterprising music executive might be able to turn her into the next India.Arie. Warm, genuine, great voice, nice smile, caring mom – what’s not to love? Maybe she distinguished herself by walking away.

What was her name, anyway?

If you mean Aa’shia Jackson, I’ve looked at several boards and no one seems to know if she made it or not. The only mention is of spotting her in the montage as you noted.

My guess is that Aa’shia didn’t make it. I think the show would have made notice of it if she had because her storyline would be so unusual. If she didn’t do well and got a “no,” it probably wasn’t a good TV moment. If a little person does well, it’s a feel good moment. If she flops then there’s no story and the producers may have feared that the moment would would appear more cruel than usual.

Do you mean “little person” like Little People of America? I didn’t think that Aa’shia was one of those–I just thought she was on the short side of average, and had a really high voice (possibly due to the fact that she’s only 16 and hasn’t matured fully). I could be wrong, though.

Anyway, last year there definitely was a little person, and she made it to the first round of Hollywood, but then they cut her after that. And I remember seeing her get cut, too. So I dunno.

Maybe Aa’shia was just boring.

Who was the **guy in his mid-20s ** from New York? He had a Latino name? Dark, curly hair? His singing was crystal. Made it to the next round, quite rightly.

I wanted to see more of Bree. That voice was amazing. Idol-worthy? Probably not. But entertaining.

**The alleged 16-year-old ** was doing her very best Liza Minelli. Blccch.

I think Simon and Paula are crazy in love.

I had to miss last night, thank Jebus for the Dope!

Bummer that Bree couldn’t switch up to a pop style, she does have crazy talent and that whole ‘just started voice lessons recently’ thing makes me wonder if she’s been so schooled by one coach in one singling style that she doesn’t actually understand the differences maybe. Not that it’s AI’s job to help her mature as a vocalist, even if that’s the case it’s a justified cut, I just dug her and hoped we’d see more of her.

Yay that Scott ‘my dad doesn’t appreciate me’ is still in, love the voice and pray that he can borrow some stage presence to keep him around until the final 32.

I didn’t so much like either twin so I’m perversely glad whichever it was made it. They sounded great harmonizing in the basement, but the few moments we saw of them onscreen didn’t endear them, personality wise.

Maybe the short braided helium child with too many vowels will be shown tonight?

That guy whose dad dissed him has the voice of an angel. He reminds me of Vincent D’afrino (or however it’s spelled) in Full Metal Jacket.

The guy whose dad hates him is named Scott something.

I agree that he has an underdog appeal and a great voice.

Those dudes SO did not deserve another chance.

I just caught a glimpse of munchkin girl. It looks as if she’s in the next round.
Also, what was up with that pretty girl with the braces. Was she retarded or something? You can’t remember ANY of the words to Can’t Help Myself.

I was surrprised at that, myself. Maybe they were in a good mood, maybe they needed a few more.

Were the guys in the white cotton shirts that bad? I had another channel on, I turned back right when the judges said they were to be laughed at.

Pretend there’s a question mark after that last sentence. Or mayhaps I’m the retarded one.

She’s a Beautiful Person. What was done to her was So Unfair.

Didn’t you hear?

You could see that one coming a mile away.
