Ryan Seacrest has been the host of a popular morning radio show in Los Angeles for years.

I heard he was very sick for the past few days so maybe he got confused with the cards. I think Clay did a very graceful job even if he did know he lost the competition.
I agree. Ruben has great talent, though he needs vocal training and needs to lose 100+ pounds or he will stroke-out before he’s 45. In present shape–vocally and physically–I don’t see him being able to complete a 1-2 hour concert. Studio singing, fine. Concert, no way. He just doesn’t have the stamina and, lacking that, his voice starts going haywire the longer he sings. The profuse sweating is a tip-off. He needs a gastric bypass. With the right training, in five years, he could be a phenomenal talent.
As for personality, I find Ruben rather wooden. Imagine him trying to entertain a crowd of 10,000 persons. I just don’t see that. As I watched him, I kept wondering what was going on in his mind. OTOH, I think Kim L. was much maligned for a supposed lack of personality, when she was just fine.
I liked Ruben, but I thought he was one dimensional. I didn’t see ANY of the personality that everyone was talking about.
I thought Clay had the most talent.
Something that bothered me in last week’s show was when the judges picked his song I thought they were trying to make more difficult for him.
I hope Clay doesn’t get stupid songs to release.
I did enjoy Ruben’s “Fly without wings” even though he was WAY off key.
Here’s my thoughts (and I’m sure I’ll be bashed) :
Clay deserved to win based on what he did the night the votes counted. I don’t pretend to know the nuances. Ruben, IMO, was slipping the last two nights. He was FANTASTIC every other time I saw him, and if I were basing the winning votes on past performances, he would win.
However.
For the nights when the !FINAL VOTES! counted, Clay was by far the better singer–IF ONLY ON THOSE NIGHTS. Yes, I’m partial due to the fact that I find Clay very sexy. But I put that aside and saw that for the finals, Clay did better. If I had to base my vote on the final two nights and defend that vote, I would say Clay because Ruben sounded tired, run down, and a little thinly-voiced. There were definite pinpoint moments where I said “Ooh, Ruben, I KNOW you can do better.”
I have no doubt in my mind that this outcome was fair as an overall outcome. But if you’re basing the outcome of the contest from the finals (which I assume they are), I think Ruben was done a disservice.
I wish the best of luck and the highest of God’s blessings to both artists–Ruben, I hope you make it–power to you! and Clay–chin up, you would have had my vote! but the only album I’m buying is Clay’s.
