American Idol - 3/15 & 3/16

I’ so tired of Farm Girl. Every song is the same pop-country Muzak. Gahh. I can’t stand ger.

Nikko was totally pitchy.

Nadia was the absolute best. Worse Lindsey.

I liked Bo, Scott and Nikko. Everybody else-- meh.

Carrie is starting to look exactly like Reese Witherspoon. Nadia was absolutly beautiful tonight.

I’m just used to hearing the Jackson5 song really high pitched. Nikko was okay. I felt bad; where was Scott’s family, they didn’t show them, I think.

Tonight was surprising to me. First, I was impressed with Constantine’s performance and would put him in the top six performances tonight (probably 6th place, exactly). I have not been a fan, so I was kind of stunned.

Anwar and Jessica were just dull. I expected something more of Anwar.

Anthony: One part cheesy local wedding singer, one part overwrought high school drama student.

Lindsay’s voice is… interesting. That song, combined with her deep voice was not a nice mix at all. I find it hard to hear the words she’s singing. They all kind of mush together into a dull, bland soup.

Nadia, Bo and Vonzell did exactly as I expected however.

My rankings for tonight:

  1. Nadia
  2. Bo

gap

  1. Anwar
  2. Scott
  3. Mikalah

gap

  1. Constantskeeve
  2. A-Fed
  3. Vondel
  4. Jessica
  5. Farm Girl

gap

Nikko
Lindsey.
I predict that Lindsey will go.

Overall, not a great night.

Boob Girl sang Shop Around: This is the first performance of hers that I’ve liked. Better than just OK but there’s no way she’s the best tonight.

Anwar sang A House Is Not A Home: It didn’t work for me. He’s got a great voice but I’m tired of the soulfulness routine. He’s so damn nice, and good looking, and has a great voice but you wouldn’t know it from this performance.

Barbra sang Son of a Preacher Man: A predictable song choice coupled with the return of Ethel Merman crossed with Fran Drescher. I HATE her voice and thought she sucked. I’ve seen drag acts that are better.

Connie sang You Make Me So Very Happy: Oh, no. Okay, I closed my eyes and he did a good job until the screech at the end.

Lindsey sang Knock on Wood: Awful and she said c’mon. See ya.

Anthony sang Breaking Up Is Hard To Do: I liked this performance. The judges hated it. There were some rough spots but it wasn’t as awful as they judges said, I don’t think.

Nadia sang You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me. A woman among girls. Fantastic voice.

Bo sang Spinning Wheel. Oh yeah! A man among boys. Can’t be accused of playing it safe. Terrific.

Vonzell sang Anyone Who Had A Heart. I thought this sucked and I’m a Vonzell fan.

Scott sang Ain’t Too Proud To Beg. Ooooh, he’ s pulling a Bo! Fantastic voice–he might have the best voice in the competition but weak performance skills. I hope he’s around for a while.

Carrie sang When Will I Be Loved. She’s just not a pop singer. She might as well walk around with a big neon sign that flashes “Country! Country! Country!” I find her incredibly boring.

Nikko sang I Want You Back. His voice sounded weak and reedy. He was far from the best but certainly wasn’t the worst.

My rankings of tonight’s performances:

  1. Bo–far and away

  2. Nadia

  3. Scott

  4. Connie (I know, I know)

  5. Anwar

  6. Jessica

  7. Vonzell

  8. Carrie

  9. Anthony

  10. Nikko

  11. Barbra

  12. Lindsey
I really think Your Next American Idol is one of the following:

  13. Bo

  14. Nadia

  15. Anwar
These three have good voices but have yet to knock it out of the park:

  16. Scott

  17. Vonzell

  18. Carrie
Everyone else should enjoy their fifteen minutes of fame while they last:

  19. Boobs

  20. Nikko

  21. Connie

  22. Mikalahlaylay

  23. Anthony

  24. Lindsey

Did you notice that when Bo was singing, the caption only said “Bo’s Friends”? Where is his family?

On Constantine: Am I the only one who thinks he’s cute?

On Nikko being pitchy: keep in mind he didn’t have as much time to prepare as the others did. Considering the circumstances, I think he did a very good job.

This I absolutely agree with.

I don’t know if cute is the word I would use, but I do like my boys to be on the dirty, messy, strange side, so there is some appeal. Ditto for Bo. Anthony, on the other hand, has about the same appeal as a Ken doll. Blech.

My vote for the top two:

Bo and Nadia

I was surprised by Con’s performance. He was my third favorite for the night.

Anwar’s performance was disappointing. I know he can do much better.

Mikalah was awful. What else is new?

The rest:

Meh

Constantine just seems more… dangerous than Bo (which could be the appeal). The first boyfriend I ever brought home (keep in mind I was a straight laced Honors student) looked like him and had a “dangerous” side (had been kicked out of his house, was living on his own in a little popup trailer, etc). I think that scared my Mom half to death!
But he was very intelligent, caring, a good artist, amongst other things…
Ah, memories…

For the record, I voted for everyone but Lindsey and Vonzell. I think Lindsey will pack her bags this week.

LOL :stuck_out_tongue:
lol
LoL :wally

Malibu Ken.

Jessica - I am “supposed” to root for her because she’s a local girl but I haven’t been that impressed. She’s just rather “meh” to me. She’s got a nice powerful voice but there’s no emotion there.

Anwar - Not his best. I was hoping for something “bigger”. He probably would have done a better job than Connie with “You make me so very happy”. Again there wasn’t much feeling there.

Lindsey - Ick. Like KSO I heard her say “c’mon” and thought “buh-bye”.

Mikhala - Uh … rubs eyes I could have sworn I read that some people here liked that. My eyes must be playing tricks on me pr your ears are playing tricks on you if you thought that was good. I think her deep voice is a put on, she tries so hard to get that throaty sound that she can’t enunciate the lyrics. Here’s what I heard throatymumblemumblemumbleSON OF A PREACHER MAN throatymumblemumblemumble SON OF A PREACHER MAN throatymumblemumblemumble. She’s really out of her league here.

Constantine - I hate to admit that he did pretty good … well, until that last note which apparently popped Paula’s eardrums because she thought it was perfect. But I thnk he picked a good song for his voice and it was indeed probably his best so far so he will probably be safe this week.

Anthony - I can’t help it, I still like him. I think he needs to take a few more risks on song choices because he seems to be doing what Clay was criticized for, picking all the safe ballads.

Nadia - My response was also “Wow, just wow!” She also looked gorgeous tonight. If people can actually get the voting right this season the two finalists should be Nadia and Bo. She had what so many other singers were lacking tonight, emotion. You could hear it in her voice and you could see it in her face.

Bo - I love him and I think he did great but I don’t think it was his best. However compared to the others tonight (except Nadia) he was still well above them. He had a little glitch running back to the stage and started to sing too soon but he worked the crowd and he performed which so many of the others had trouble with.

Vonzell - She’s sort of middle of the road for me. I can see her sticking around a bit longer but she never seems to bring the emotion to the music. She has a good voice but no “oomph”.

Scott - I like his voice and I’m rooting for him to stick around. I think he did a good job, but he needs a little more “oomph” too.

Carrie - She has a nice voice but she bores me. She’s too country for my tastes. She will probably be around for a while because technically she is a good singer.

Nikko - As I said, Carrie bores me which caused me to zone out and miss Nikko. I want to see Nikko do well but the response wasn’t good. I hope he gets to stick around at least for another show since he didn’t get as much time to prepare as the others.

Worst of the night for me:
Lindsey
Mikhala

Who will probably go:
Lindsey
Nikko

Doesn’t only 1 go tomorrow?

Bo worked that stage like I’ve never seen on Idol. Love his voice, too. He did mess up the words a little, but who cares.

Nadia was great, especially when she took the mic off the stand. I love her.

Scott was terrific tonight and just seemed so sincere. Where’s his family?

Anwar is my dawg as well as Randy’s, but I can never tell if a Burt Bacharach song is pitchy or not - they’re all pitchy to me.

Vonzell and Nikko were too ambitious with their song choices, IMO. I don’t know what Dionne Warwick song would have been better for Vonzell, but Nikko would have been better served with “I’ll Be There” or my favorite Jackson Five ballad “Maybe Tomorrow”. Hey, Anwar should sing “Maybe Tomorrow”! On a side note, it appears I know all the words to “I Want You Back”. Who knew?

Whenever I see Mickaylayalawhatever, I sing “the Nanny named Fran” when she finally shuts up.

Lindsay looked like she was laying an egg.

Jessica was a poor man’s Toni Tenille tonight.

Whoever is left was too boring to comment on.

I would concur with those predicting Lindsay’s departure.

I’m not sure what you mean by that, Toni Tennille is a great singer.

Constantine reminds me of Bisexual Phil, one of my college boyfriends. I don’t know why, though. Phil kind of looked like Anthony (and I still think Anthony looks like Doogie Howser). Anyway, Constantine impressed me tonight by virtue of being intelligible. Is this what “American Idol” has done to my standards? “I voted for him because I could understand at least 50% of the words he was singing”?
