Anthony~ would have done better in the earlier seasons, raising the age limit and allowing seasoned performers in hurts this kid. He’s going from being the star of his junior/senior high choirs to being just one of many and that’s tough enough to deal with, add in all the confidence experience brings and he’s hit. Did well with the song, but I had to stop and question if it was ever that ballady since I remembered it as more beboppy.
Anwar~ is so huggable I wanna bake him cookies. And feed them to him, rowrrr. Did a fabulous job singing a song that’s not that much fun to listen to. Vocally, he was totally in control and did everything right, bad song choice to showcase what he can do. I voted for him.
Bo~is an excellent seasoned performer, he’s got the experience and confidence to own everything he’s doing, even if he’s not the best vocalist and lacking in range. He was cracking me up carrying the mike stand, if you’re gonna wander why carry the stand around with you?
Carrie~I forgot this was an Everly Brothers song, I associate it with Linda Ronstadt. Well done, a bit uneven in some spots but the best white girl onstage tonight. I voted for her.
Smirky McSmarmovich~ now I remember why I liked his first audition! He did very well exposing the Broadway-experienced side and not pretending to be a rocker, but I still think he’s icky.
Boob girl~ not a flattering outfit, she looked chunky. I’ve been waiting for better things from that big ol’ voice but I don’t think she knows how to really get there. Decent performance but meh.
Lindsey~ I can’t stop seeing Julia DeMato here. Lindsey’s good, but not consistently good enough, she’s outta her league but will be kept around as eye candy.
Mikalikahoohah~ Tonight’s makeup was actually an improvement, she always applies with a trowel but it looked like someone was maybe helping with the color selection. I watched her tonight, especially when she replied to Simon’s guesstimate that the crowd must agree with his poor review by stating that the audience looked fabulous anyway, and figured she’s what would happen if Queer Eye’s Fab5 raised a daughter.
Nadia~ absolute Goddess-like perfection. She looked great, although that dress was sorta Grandma’s beach cover-up, she once again chose a fabulous song to make the best of her voice, just a wonderful performance. Love this woman, and realized suddenly that she’s not 9 foot tall, even with the hair she’s Seacrest-high and that shocked me. I voted for her.
Nikko~I agree that I kept expecting him to go higher, falsetto, something. My attention wandered from his singing to once again wondering who’s in charge of the arrangements for the show. So maybe not his fault, but not interesting enough to hold my attention either.
Scott~ Good vocals, the ‘now I’ll interact with the audience!’ part seemed contrived. I just do not like this man, and I so wanted to since he’s got such a good voice, bah.
Vonzell~ Damn she looked incredible! I don’t know if the song choice was right, but she’s consistently a good solid performer, I agree with Simon that she needs to break out and be a great one soon.
Randy was a prick tonight, he seemed impossible to please unless you were already one of his chosen favorites. “I’m not feeling it” isn’t exactly the most constructive criticism in the world.
Paula seemed stuck on stupid, she just needs to stop talking. Half the time she opts out of having to say anything negative and goes for nonsense niceties, the other half when she’s trying to say something about the vocals she’s flat out wrong.
Simon was fun.
Nadia, Bo and Carrie are the best performers, I agree with Simon. Are they actually better singers than all the rest though?
