Asia’h and Danny are gone. I’m pretty upset by the latter.
Danny was the worst. Justice is served.
Danny was nowhere near as bad as Simon was making him out to be, and at least one performer who was nowhere near as good (coughMichael Johnscough) made it through. Simon Cowell hates gay men.
Yeah, well - I got two 4-yr-olds over here bawling their eyes out. I hope you’re happy, America.
(won’t someone think of the children)
I’m disappointed in Vote for the Worst, for not keeping Danny on. Then again, I just visited VFTW’s site, & there are (a) ads in the way, & (b) much anti-Carly noise.
Whatever. VFTW is now pointless, isn’t it?
Danny wasn’t a horrible singer, but his pouty-snotty attitude was all over my nerves.
Awwww. Can you convince them that David Archuleta is just Danny’s quieter, shorter haired, seriouser brother? At least he’ll probably be around for a while.
I hated it too. HATED it. He fucked with the melody of one of the most beautiful melodies out there. There are times to sing a different note than is expected, but he basically destroyed that song and it pissed me off. I kept hoping to hear a note I love and he’d sing something else.
Good point, Irreverent, I’ll work on it.
And here I was thinking all my little gay brothers in training were texting maniacs and would vote for Danny like crazy…ah well.
My google fu is clearly lacking. Can anyone tell me the original performer(s?) of Hallelujah? The song has been stuck in my head and I’d like to listen to it again.
Leonard Cohen. But I like the Jeff Buckley version best. Rufus Wainright did one as well.
So did John Cale. The first place I’d heard this song was in a Scrubs episode. Loved it then, and I loved Jason Castro’s version.
Holy crap! I just saw on the AI site that Amanda Rockerchick is 23. I thought she was more like 40.
k.d. lang did a version of Hallelujah too.
My wife said the same thing.
I said it was just the empire waist, then she revoked my man card.
In retrospect, I agree with all dismissals tonight except Danny. You know, he wasn’t half bad. He definitely has the vocal ability, and was far better than several of the remaining guys. The only ones that strike me as having a shot at the top are David A. and David H.
But, really? Danny deserved to be in the top 12, given some of the others who remained instead. He definitely had the personality that made the show interesting for me this season… really, the remaining contestants just don’t do it. I most definitely don’t buy the hype that this is the “best top 24 ever!” It simply isn’t true.
And seriously, Paula? I don’t know why the producers haven’t taken you aside yet and had a serious talk with you.
I agree with Simon in that I wouldn’t congratulate her on her single’s performance, either. There’s very little Paula vocal in that song – don’t get me wrong, it’s not a horrible song… but vocally? Yeah. Paula doesn’t deserve the credit for the track.
America made all the correct choices other than Asia’h, who freaking rocked and had one mediocre week. Kristy/Kirsty/what’s-her-name Lee Cook is OK, but has no chance of making it through more than a few more weeks.
I know that there are a number of Danny fans here, and hell, I liked the kid too. But he had nothing but poor performances throughout this entire round.
Kady looked like she knew she was going last night, and utterly unsurprised today.
I think Gay Danny and Project Runway’s Christian would make a cute couple, they could do each others hair and be fierce and stuff.
Did you pronounce it empire or ahm-peer? That’s probably what cost you the card.
Well, at least I got to see Luke one more time.
