I’m expecting plenty of comedy from Ms. Butterflies-and-Rainbows Carey.
Should be a good week for Syesha and Carly, but you never know. I wonder what David Cook will do. Is there a Soundgarden cover of “Dream Lover?”
No way, seriously? Mariah Carey? I think I’ll call my dentist and see if he can squeeze me in for a root canal instead. Or I could just rip my toenails out. Either would be less painful for me than an hour of her music. Yet I’ll watch anyway, because I’m stupid like that.
I’m thinking it’s NOT a good week for Syesha. She’s too much like Mariah, only not as good. She won’t be able to change things up enough to avoid comparisons to the original.
May god have mercy on Jason Castro. I just can’t imagine what song he’s gonna do. I am looking forward to hearing him crack that high Mariah note, though.
If you are interested, go the TMZ/American Idol site. Their spies who have attended the final rehearsal have given their report as to who will sing what. David A seems to have picked the perfect song. 
When I saw that it was Mariah Carey week, I have to admit I shuddered. It’s bad enough to be subjected to one of her songs occasionally; to have everyone singing them? Should be painful. I just hope it’s painful enough that it crosses the line into entertainingly painful rather than just excruciating.
It occurred to me this week that David A is the kid I’ll see at the Maranatha Christian Fellowship table in a couple of years.
I couldn’t name a Mariah Carey (sp?) song if my life depended on it, even though I just heard one. I actually wanted to skip tonight, but my wife would rather watch this than baseball for some reason.
Grumble. Why the hell did they pick Mariah freakin’ Carey?
It’ll be interesting to see what Carly, David, and Jason do with this.
I’m right with you. I know she’s had a lot of hits but I literally don’t think I’d be able to name one with a gun to my head.
From what I’ve heard, all Mariah Carey songs sound just like whatever David A. just sang.
Wait, doesn’t she have something out called “Touch My Body?” David Cook should do an emo version of that one.
Who was that chick on that one season of AI who wanted to be Barabra Streisand? I think Carly is morphing into that chick.
Carly is actually dressed nicely tonight, from what I can tell.

Carly always looks like she thinks she’s blowing the roof off when she’s really just sort of mediocre. I also think she’s pitchy on those low notes.
Weird. I hate Mariah, but I was more impressed with Carly tonight than I have been for weeks.
I’m still trying to figure out how Mariah got into that outfit she’s wearing. It’s so tight it would be difficult to even paint it on. Oy.
I thought Carly was great. Liked Syesha better than I usually do.

Sy sounds really polished to me. Nice runs but not obnoxiously excessive. I think she was technically as good as she always is, but tonight she was a little less boring.
Nice timing with the commercials, so we could catch a 2-run Morneau homer.
So far that’s the best thing I can say about tonight’s AI.
