American Idol 3/7

So, the two that deserve to go home this week are Travis and Constantine. I’m concerned, however, that Scott doesn’t have enough teenage girl voting power behind him and that he may take Constantine’s place.

/Ms Cyros

This is a pretty easy voting decision, Connie and Travis are the weakest links. I just worry that the teeny-boppers won’t do the right thing. I’d hate to see Bo get Tamyra-ed because people are voting to protect Constant Skeeve.

Note to Constantine: Don’t grin and wink at the camera when singing “Must I always be alone?”

Lounge-singer Sting was not only bad singing, it also lacked any authentic emotion of the song. Constantine is the living definition of “smarmy”. Randy and Paula are insane.

Ok, so we’re losing two of the guys to leave six, right?

I feel certain we’ll see Scott, Anwar, Bo and Anthony in the finals.

Nikko is likely safe, if there’s any justice Smarmy McSmirkovitch is out, so the real question is…Travis or Mario? Neither is cringe-inducing, IMO, I think Travis is the more consumate performer but Mario has the cute boy band vibe, neither suck so what are the predictions?

The phones are pretty busy for him. I’ve only gotten through once. The real test will be the second hour when the diehards will be still be voting for their favourites.

Paula is saying “bring it” and “you brought it tonight” entirely too much. She needs a new phrase, dawg.

Scott Savol- I Can’t Help Myself (Four Tops) - Scott’s still sporting the glasses. I still hate them. He’s singing pretty well. I just don’t like him, so I can’t be very objective. Randy says that he loves that Scott came out having fun and he is showing his personality. Paula says it was a good change and he did a good job. Simon says “Oh wow”…do something you are good at doing - the choreography at the beginning was horrible. (Egg, Scott’s sign was Taurus - he says the bull represents him well)

Bo Bice - I’ll Be (Edwin McCain) - Aww, I liked it when Bo went last. Gives the show some energy. It’s like the other guys open for the headliner. (heehee, we are a biased bunch, aren’t we?) This is not the best thing he’s done, IMO. It’s almost like he has to hold back some of his voice to sing it. He finishes strong but the beginning was a little shaky. Randy says it wasn’t the best, but was shaky in the beginning - needs more growl. Paula says it was a consistent slam dunk. Simon agrees with Paula, it was the right type of song for him and he says it’s Bo’s competition to lose. (Scorpio)

Anthony Fedorov - I’ve Got You (Marc Anthony) - I thought it was ok, but I really didn’t care for the song. He sang it without a problem, except I thought he was flat a few times. Randy and Paula loved it, Simon says that Anthony reminds him of Clay and he doesn’t think that Anthony should sing songs that have Latin flair because it wasn’t comfortable for him. The crowd and Randy loudly disagree. I hate his jacket, incidentally. (Taurus?)

Nikko Smith - Georgia On My Mind (made popular by Ray Charles) - I LOVE this song. ('Course, I’m from Georgia…) I think he could have done a bit more with the song in the beginning, but he’s finishing it VERY well. It wasn’t bad. Simon pulls Paula back into her chair. Randy said there were a few pitchy spots in the beginning but it was finished very strongly. Paula says it was wonderful and she can’t imagine the top twelve without him in it. Simon says it was an incredibly smart choice of song, it showed personality, the beginning was shaky and that he finished it strongly. (also a Taurus)

Travis TuckerEvery Little Step (Bobby Brown) - First thought - why? He’s doing alright…until he starts doing the human beatbox, I think that could have been a mistake. He doesn’t really put a lot of mmph into this song. Randy says performance A, pitch D. Paula says he’s special and unique to the competition. Simon says it was appalling and that it sounded like something in a theme park. (Aries)

Mario Vazquez - How Can You Mend a Broken Heart (Michael Buble?) - I had to google this, never heard it - if someone else did it first, I apologize now. He sang it well. I don’t know Randy likes it, Paula loves it. Simon says he has charm and will sail through to the top 12. He says he’s not the best singer, but he’s going to do great. (Gemini)

Constantine Maroulis - Every Little Thing She Does (Sting/Police)- Yuck. No, it’s really an awful song for him. I hated it, and not because it was Constantine. I thought he was all over the place. Randy says it was in tune and that it was one of his better performances. Were we listening to the same thing? Paula said it was her fav performance by him. Simon says it was a bad impersination of Sting. RAndy and Paula freak out. Simon says they’ve lost the something but I can’t understand what. I agree with Simon. (Virgo)

Anwar Robinson - What a Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong) - A very powerful voice, great performance. This is the best he’s done, IMO. I really like it better than some of his other performances. Randy loved it, best vocal this season he says. Paula says his voice is his instrument and it’s an orchestra. He breathes new life into his songs. Simon says he’s everything a music teacher should be. He says he’s so nice. Simon says he’s geniune and that he and Paula could marry and have children. (He was a Taurus too, if I remember correctly)

Sings inserted for Egg.
Bottom two this week, as far as I’m concerned are Constantine and Anthony, though I’d rather see Mario go than Anthony. I think almost everyone did better LAST week than this week, excluding Anwar.

i said going in that Nikko and Anwar are my favorites. After tonight, I’d say they’ve really cemented themselves as my favorites. I like their song choices and their singing. I’m not so much into Hootie. He reminds of the occasional frat boy you meet who’s cool for a frat boy, with reggae hats and long hair, but he’s still a frat boy.

Mario gets props for being the only one not to signal “dial this many,” but not enough to actually root for him.

gah signs, not sings ~sighs~

I think it’s bye to Scott and Travis. :frowning:
Constantine, thank you for making me writhe in pain during one of my favorite Police songs.
Go Anwar. Go Bo.

I think that How Can You Mend a Broken Heart was the Bee Gees, at least at one time. They may not have been the first.

Dang you people for damning Travis while I was off getting a beverage! :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously? Am I just totally missing the boat? I’m not seeing where, thru all the auditions, Travis is markedly worse than Nikko or Mario.

Ah well, wouldn’t be the first time I thought the wrong person got voted off, as long as Connie goes I’ll be happy. He wasn’t just smarmy or victim of a bad song choice, he was straining vocally and out of tune and just plain wrong. It’s a much better crop of guys than we’ve had the last few seasons so it’s all good.

First off, astrology? Zodiac? Lame.

Last week I believe I compared Anwar to a puppy. That’s why I’m awesome.

Diogenes: You got a big laugh out of me with “Constant Cheese”.

I just listened to the show tonight–I didn’t pay attention to the visuals, for the most part. Wait, I know why I didn’t pay attention to the visuals. Scott scared me off with that weird dancing. Especially how he opened his fingers and held them to his face and moved side to side, like how I imagine you’d dance if you were in preschool and they started rockin out “Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun”. My eyes refused to focus on anything after that.

Anyway, I love Anwar. I love him a million times more than I loved him last week.

Mario was still pretty good.

I liked Anthony’s song, and I actually didn’t hate him tonight. That’s a compliment coming from me, ya hear that Federov?

Bo lost some respect for me after singing “I’ll Be.” After his awesome performance last week, he decides to suck it up with a song that has been attempted at least 1000 times on this show. On a scale from 1 to pretty, that song is just kind of meh. In the words of the judges, that song was just too “safe”.

The worst Travis and Constantine. Nikko did not sing well. It sounded bad to me, even the finish. I think two of these 3 will be out.
As for my favorites: Anwar and Bo, although Mario gets a special shout out for coming from The Bronx and being so cute.

Scott does nothing for me. Bo is soooooooo cute! Didn’t do that great, but I’ll let him ride on last week’s performance. Scorpio, just like me! Anthony - meh. I thought Nikko was great! Travis looks hot, but was mediocre this round. Mario was ok. (How Can You Mend a Broken Heart was by the Bee-Gees.) I like that song. Constantine needs to go home. Anwar rocked!

Nikko and Anwar were the top two. Contantine and Scott need to say goodbye.

Was my TV broken or did Smarmy actually enunciate this week? If he weren’t such an ass, he wouldn’t be that bad.

Bo didn’t quite rock my socks this week, but Anwar filled in the gaps. Travis, sadly, was terrible, but he can move. I didn’t think much of Scott or Mario, either. Mario looks like the poor man’s Sideshow Justin.

Scott: He has a fantastic voice but Simon was right about the “dancing.” He should get through.

Bo: I’m biased–he has a great voice and I liked this performance. It wasn’t his best but he should be safe.

Anthony: The best he’s done but I still find him boring. If it were up to me, he’d be gone this week.

Nikko: Started out crappy and then blew it away. Really, really good.

Travis: I really like him but that was awful. He should be gone.

Mario: Oh, no. He said he wants to show his “serious side,” never a good sign. It was a pleasant surprise but then he wrecked it with that run or whatever it was. Not a fan.

Constantine: I like that he chose The Police. He does have a decent voice but that was just a horrid, awful cheesefest. Once he’s booted, he should run for Governor of Wisconsin. “A bad impersonation of Sting.” Yes.

Anwar: Oh, God, he’s so freaking hot. That was amazing. I sound like Paula but he has an amazing ability to take a standard and turn it into his own. I loved it.

My rankings:

  1. Anwar
  2. Bo
  3. Nikko
  4. Mario
  5. Scott
  6. Connie the Cheese Man
  7. Anthony
  8. Travis

As an aside, anyone want to bet on how long “Stacked” will last?

Let me state on the record that my man Federov is about 1 billion times cuter than Clay Aiken. A billion trillion. I like him. There, I said it.

Travis was very, very bad. Constantine was pretty damn bad. I can’t stand Bo any day but frankly I didn’t think he was all that tonight. To me it sounded like he was straining.

Now if Anwar sings like that through the rest of the show he is a serious contender.

I think Nikko and Constantine are leaving. I thought they both were awful.

The two that I am almost positive will be staying are Anwar and Bo.
Bo was still great…and Anwar…WOW! What a voice!

I’m still dialing for Scott and I’m getting through a lot now. :frowning:

I’d email Constantine a link if I had his email address… ~grins~

Constant Cheese indeed…Dio, love the new nickname.
