Lee Dewyze – “You’re Still the One” – Phenomenol – audience loved it.
Mike Lynche – “It Only Hurts When I Breathe” – Sitting on the staircase.
Casey James – “Don’t” – plays guitar, sings in front of judges.
Crystal Bowersox – “No One Needs to Know Right Now” – very country, new carpet, has musicians on stage with her.
Aaron Kelly – “It’s In the Way You Love Me” – on the stool, with a piano.
Siobhan Magnus – “Any Man Of Mine – She’s fantastic – blew it out of the park. Her new tattoo is on her stomach.
Song spoilers!
I think I finally figured out what bothers me about Lee–he looks like he had a stroke. The bottom of his mouth goes out to one side when he sings.
How do you find this out? They’ve performed and recorded these before the show?
They sell tickets to dress rehearsals, and usually someone there texts MJ from mjsbigblog.com with the songs, performance order, and other details.
I can’t get over how odd it is to hear Big Mike do falsetto, even though he does it pretty well–it’s just bizarre coming from his body. Think he did a good job tonight.
I don’t have the stomach for a Shania Twain night. I’m going to have to skip it. This will be the second week in a row. I’m just finding it harder and harder to summon any interest this season. I find that I hate the show more than I ever have. I think I might just be done with it for good. This group this year is really bottom of the barrel. America’s out of talent.
Honestly, I swear I don’t get it. Big Mike bored me to tears. I could barely make it through that song.
I don’t know this song, but this is the best Casey has ever sounded. A tiny bit goaty still, but good.
Anyone else find it weird that Shania is interacting with the contestants so much?
I know it’s awfully shallow, but Casey is just too pretty to take seriously.
I am glad they finally stopped the Crystal adulation, temporarily.
Crystal fell victim to a classic blunder – don’t sing songs that “mean something” to you, sing songs you can actually sing.
No flame outs yet. I’m feeling less of the appreciation of Mike though.
The judges are making a concerted effort to tell us how great everyone is, Crystal excepted, but I’m rather underwhelmed. Big meh week.
Whew. For a minute there, I thought she started a land war in Asia.
Diogenes: America isn’t out of talent. America is out of people who know how to find talent.
Good for Siobhan, she did very well.
Agree, I love her again. She apparently thought “Screw you judges, I’m goin’ for the big note!”
And it worked.
Honestly I thought they all did well tonight, I even liked Big Mike and I’ve not been a fan.
I have to say I was surprised tonight. No one sucked. I liked Siobhan’s performance the best. I liked Aaron’s voice the best. Casey and Lee were solid. Mike was good, I just don’t care for his voice, personally. Crystal’s worst performance. She might be in trouble…
That was some weak stuff tonight. I didn’t much like Casey’s performance, but I can see him going straight from the stage tonight into a mega-successful Keith Urban-type country career - they’d eat him up with a spoon.
I didn’t mind Siobhan, but she seemed like she was slower than the beat through the whole song. The ending was…excellent. She really nailed the big screaming finish this time.
Big Mike was a Big Bore. Yawn.
No matter how talented someone is, if they’re singing a cheesy song it’s going to suck. Crystal and Siobhan both chose bad songs.
Aaron, who always chooses badly, (he’s this season’s Lil), actually did okay.
I just finished watching Crystal and so far I’m bored silly.
Edited to add: Aaron made my ears bleed. Maybe it’s just that I hate the genre, but that sounded horrible to me. Also, the only song so far that I’ve ever heard before was the very first one, which Lee sang.
